✨Clarification: SOME government schools you have to pay for while some are no-fee schools. From what I’ve read online, schools in the low quintile (1-3) are no fee schools which receive most of the funding. While other government schools you (4-5) that are fee based . For instance: Fourways High School, Bryanston primary school, etc are all public government schools in which you do have to pay What is your experience in private or government schools? What are some of your favorites in the Northern Suburbs? How much are you paying? Comment below and let me know ✨

Also I should add that one of the other reasons children wear uniform is for the school and public to identify the child much easier. Whether they report missing, lost, in crowds etc. This is why uniforms have different colors and school crest (badges) depending on the area its situated in.

People denying that we pay school fees in Public schools. Guys we do pay maybe some don’t, but most we do pay . I went public schools in Soweto and I paid ( R500) a year, obviously it’s not a lot but in comparison to USA, they don’t pay at all unless it’s private. Taxes pay for those schools and their maintenance as well. South African government just need to do better. But what I don’t like about American schools is that if you live in the township, you’re not allowed to go to schools in the Suburbs, kinda Apartheid vibes. In terms of safety, School children are definitely safe in South Africa. In the US it’s mass shootings in schools every week, even two days ago there was a school shooting, Student shot kids in Cafeteria and went on to shoot himself.

@@nthabisengmametja7031 Clarity and understand our country's laws unfortunately missed some. Taylor put it to us that some of her friends pay for "school fees", which is true. She also said that she was of the opinion that "Education" in government schools was free but was informed that it's not, this is absolutely false. There is a difference between a "School" and "Education". "School fees" are NOT paid to the Department of Education or forwarded afterwards as collection, they are paid to the "School's administrators", thus they are called school fees, not a education fee. Even through multiple tiers of schools within the DET's list, NONE, ask parents to pay for education, but for the individual School's admission fee.

@nthabisengmametja7031 The Department is only responsible for the Education aspect, and will only intervene with the PTA if it is of national importance, as the Afrikaans School issue that forced the state to introduce the BELA Act. During schooling years, Administrators and Teachers are responsible for drafting quarterly and annual examinations that are with the national syllabus spectrum. They are also responsible for marking Tests and Examinations conducted, within the school, by probably Teachers who taught that specific subject. The state chooses to have no interference in that exercise until the student's Matrix/Final exam, which is published freely on numerous newspapers, regardless if the student in arrears or not. So the administrators have a right, if you choose their School, to withold the results as they are the ones who taught, drafted and marked. The state does not remunerate adminstrators employed by the School, or cleaners and gardners if they were not hired by the department. The 'poorest of the poor', do not pay any fees toward their children's schooling, except uniform, if there is no recycling programme. In every township, location or rural area, it is expected that those children will attend a school within their vicinity. Where necessary, a "Malabese" feeding programme to help poor children receive nutrition is also state subsidised.

@luthovellem8655 күн бұрын
Your comment is actually shitty because the South African economy has performed better than first world England for the past 15 years even with a growth of 0,8 and even with that measly growth it remains one of the most steadily growing economies in the past 30 years. Unemployment has direct links with education while production capacity and population have a more direct link with the economy. For a country of only 60 million. SA far outperforms many countries in the world with some glaring weaknesses in manufacturing. Inequality unfortunately is a result of a failed manufacturing sector which can only be changed by government policy which could put 25 million people into work in the textiles, and other high value beneficiation sectors in mining and other resource extractive sectors where raw material is simply exported. If you do this the country could quadrippple it's tax base and double it's economy but the ANC is locked into disgusting deals with European countries mainly which prohibit South Africa from expanding its manufacturing base. You put 25 million people into permant work in the manufacturing sector and this country would be first world in the next 20 years.
