I honestly really like this design for the sirens. There is enough hint of feminine form to let you know they are all women, but they are also clearly monstrous and fully adapted to an aquatic environment and a carnivorous diet. They don't need to look human because their song can make their prey imagine them as whoever they desire most.

There is something so special about the animatics that come from Epic because one you watch them, it forever changes how you listen to the song and this is definitely one of the most impactful I have ever watched. On its own, the song sounds brutal but I didn't really sympathise with the sirens until watching this and I have a whole new perspective

@@LazarusZeptre There are no deer here. Deer are herbivorous prey, definitely 'innocent' (except against vegetation). This is predator vs predator. So more like... Mongoose for the men vs cobra for the sirens. Mongoose minding its business suddenly attacked by snake that wants to eat it. Mongoose wins and eats the snake instead, but it eats it tail end first, saving the head for last so the head can feel every bite taken out of it before it dies. Even if that's cruel, the snake attacked first. The mongoose defended itself and won. The mongoose is not obligated to now set the snake free once the snake starts begging to be spared.

Ok, but considering that everyone sees sirens differently (siren song makes them hear/see what they most desire) that opening scene is probably confusing as heck for one of the crew members who just wants to see their dad/mom/family member. Having just come off from watching an animatic or two for "Monster", I feel like your art (of the animatics for "Different Beast" I've seen), REALLY captures what a Monster...or you could say, Different Beast, Odysseus became after his trip to the Underworld.
