It was pretty much Lipowitz against Pogacar at the final few km. After Lipowitz took charge for his captain Martinez, the time gap didn't grow any larger. 29 sec. at the end instead of 1 min down, as it seems at 3 km to go when the gap was already over 30 sec.

@veganpotterthevegan5 ай бұрын
@stevegriffiths566 never said anything against Thomas. That said, the Giro isn't as hard as the TdF due to the competition. It's easy enough that UAE took away some of Pogi's top domestiques so they're more prepared for the TdF knowing how easy this would be for Pogi. Pogi had no help today and walked away from everyone after a mechanical. And this time gap is significant when you consider the gradient of the final climb only averaged 6.2%. That's why so many people were in the chase group. The easier the climb, the smaller the gaps.

And how many grand tours has pogi won in the last 2 years. He's only winning now because all his major competition are injured.
@veganpotterthevegan5 ай бұрын
@annmorey9558 Pogi lost the TdF in 2022 solely due to having a lackluster team and making some really bad decisions. He was the strongest rider there. Different story with 2023 though. And keep in mind, Pogi is a classics star. That's an even bigger reason for why he doesn't have more GT wins.

If Pogacar was as full with drugs and dope as Pantani was , that would be a horrible shame !! And second : he did for sure dominate, yes , but did not pulverize the competition ! They did not loose too much time, yet it is clear what probably all had been predicting - he is the man to beat, and it perhaps needs a miracle or a real super bad day not to see him win the giro ( or illness or crash, which nobody wants him to face ! ). But -- who knows , the race is 3 weeks on from now and many things can happen !
