I'm delighted to have discovered this channel. As a new student in ground school for my Private Pilot License (PPL), I found the explanations here to be exceptionally clear and comprehensible, which stands in stark contrast to my experience with my current ground class instructor. Thank you for making complex topics so accessible.

1:10 I never agreed on getting the 1st class medical to know if you’re “eligible”… 1) if youre healthy you can pass all certs 2) you can always get sick with age or time, today you pass the next day, you don’t. If the price isn’t a big difference from 1 and 3 then go ahead and get 1st. But just know you’ll definitely have to do your medical again for when your ATP ready a d looking for jobs(same with 3rd class but might just be slightly cheaper this route if you’re on a budget). But again its not a guarantee that you’ll be healthy for when you do your medical again.

Hi, thanks for your comment and providing that insight! The reason we recommend aspiring commercial airline pilots to get their First Class Medical before starting flight training is to ensure that they are eligible to become an airline pilot once they complete training. While individuals may be completely healthy, the First Class Medical could flag something in their medical history that may create an obstacle in their career goals. Getting the First Class Medical beforehand allows students to avoid running into any issues with it after spending time and effort on all their training!

Thank you very much for doing these. They are helpful. If you can acquire a better microphone, it will improve the audio and make it easier to hear.

Hey everyone i'm Andy looking for a quick bit of advice. So I just retired from the military this month at age 39 after 20 years. I had an aviation job in the Navy for 20 years, and im an active skydiver who loves aviation. Iv always wanted to become a CFI and run a small flight school. Or work as a jump pilot at a skydive drop zone. Zero desire for the airlines. Im ready NOW to start flight training at 110%. My problem is I went to rehab for alcohol only about 7 months ago. I have to make clear, that I didn't go because of a court order, or because I got a DUI or some drunken bar fight .. NO.. I went to rehab purely on a volunteer basis to ask for help in cutting back. Now that im alcohol free, I want to pursue flying but im hearing a lot of negativity about a medical cert. I wanna start flying tomorrow, but I dont wanna start if medical will hold me back.. Feedback????

What exactly does the medical exam consist of?
@flyaeroguard
@flyaeroguard 2 жыл бұрын
The medical exam consists of a series of tests, examining your vision, hearing, blood pressure, pulse, urine, and general health among other areas. It may include an ECG if you’re 35 years of age and older and applying for a first-class medical certificate. The examiner often starts the exam with questions about your recent medical history, including any hospital visits, surgeries, or medications. Moreover, the AME will ask questions about your mental health to determine your psychological fitness. The medical exam takes between 15 and 30 minutes if you have no medical conditions or irregularities during the exam (e.g., high blood pressure).

Can someone tell me validity vs privelages for medical? I know if you’re over 40 and under 40 when the privileges expire but when does the validity expire?
@flyaeroguard
@flyaeroguard 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ashley, I don’t know if I quite understand your question completely, so feel free to elaborate if this response is insufficient. Essentially, each medical certificate class has its own privileges and each privilege has a valid period starting from the date the medical is issued. A common mis-phrasing is that a medical certificate changes to a different type. For example, it is common to hear a pilot say that they “got a first class medical but now it’s only a 3rd class”. This is technically incorrect, but does convey an accurate meaning. A better way to understand the FAA medical certification is to think of the 3 types of privileges and how each medical class has different privileges associated. So I would illustrate it as such: 1st class - ATP privileges for 6/12 months depending on age, CPL privileges for 12 months, PPL privileges for 24/60 months depending on age 2nd class - CPL privileges for 12 months, PPL privileges for 24/60 months depending on age 3rd class - PPL privileges for 24/60 months depending on age This is also overly simplified as there are other privileges besides the pilot certificates I have included above, but I think this works for the context of your question. So if I get a first class medical certificate today I can exercise ATP, CPL, and PPL privileges. Assuming I was under the age of 40 at the time of receiving the medical, I will continue to have all three privileges for 12 months. After 12 months, I will still have a 1st class medical, but will only be able to exercise PPL privileges for the an additional 48 months

The "10,000" audio logo at ~ :45 is perfect. Nice and relaxed. Please DON'T make the audio logo more flashy and noisy and ostentatious. Otherwise perfect.
