As for me, I don't really make a buy decision based on the flavor of month of political correctness. In the case of Harley Davidson - I made my buy decision because my bikes (I own 4 HD softail and touring models of various years) were made in America, made by Americans and I do support companies that manufacture in the USA. I can't say the same for Motor Company Clothing or many of the accessories they sell - and as a result - I don't buy too many parts or motorcycle clothes from the Motor Company. I don't own HD stock, nor do I care to buy it. I have very strong and positive feelings for my local, family owned HD dealership. Your videos are masterful in their insight and polish. I will take sides on this issue, sort of. I’ve never, in my 50 + years of riding, been a fan of Haley Davidson. Too heavy, too backward and too expensive. I’m also put off by their outlaw image. Majorly. But if H D is becoming Woke, I applaud them 😘. A woke HD is good news to me. May counteract their many decades of celebrating bad behavior within the Harley customer base.🤔😎

Won't sell my EG but I'll never buy another Harley and I won't deal with their people at all again. Stealerships are the biggest back stabbers of all. They pissed me off looooong before this BS came up.

I have been riding for a very long time and have owned over 65 motorcycles, yes, even a couple of Harleys. What Harley Davison sold was not a quality motorcycle at a fair price but an image, a culture. You could be an accountant M-F and a bad ass biker on the weekend, so they didn’t have to sell a quality motorcycle. All of that ended with the new soft image of Harley Davidson. Plus people who really ride long-distance know that there are much better bikes for that.

I read where the Harley CEO has indicated Harley bikes will go full electric by 2030. I also saw where the Livewire bikes have lost 300 million dollars. If this woke BS doesn't put them under, then all electric bikes surely will.
@erniecolussy17055 ай бұрын
I don't really expect HD to be all electric by 2030. But, remember decades ago when HD said, "Motorcycle companies must plan to build motorcycles with fuel injection if they plan on staying in business." And rider were saying, "I will never buy a fuel injected HD."

Harley-Davidson has systematically eliminated anything I would buy from them from 2017 to 2022. I don't think they'll ever make another bike that I would buy. I rode other brands before I owned a Harley and I'll ride other brands when I no longer own one.

Yep, when they dropped the Dyna line in 2018, that was the end. Along with the M8. I have my 02 Dyna, and my 97 883. HD has produced NOTHING that is of any remote interest to me.

I always thought the insane brand-loyal Harley crowd who trash all other bike brands and enthusiastically overpay for bikes that are way less reliable would have ditched HD a while ago, when the newer bikes become as expensive as a house. But no, they kept lining up like lemmings to get bent over. And Harley knows this. I "boycotted" them by never buying in to the lifestyle crap. I ride and have owned and ridden a Honda Valkyrie, Yamaha Warrior, and currently, a Yamaha Super Tenere and Triumph Rocket 3. All way better bikes than Harley. Better performance, way better value, and way more reliable. Love rolling up as the only Rocket 3 at bike nights, amongst the acres of boring road glides and street glides.

Lol…everybody doing a “woke Harley” video these days. If you don’t want a Harley because it’s not your style or they are too expensive then so be it. Your life, your money. If you are leaving the brand because they have “gone woke” then you are a soft maga and good riddance. Easy as that.

Z boy here, 22 in age. I was looking at Davidson's at the dealership a couple of months back, contemplating a purchase. The quality and engineering of the bikes doesn't impress me much, but I wasn't against it entirely. The price was a big killer. A week after Harley woke up on the wrong side of the fight, I went to look at indians, and then hondas. I settled on a shaft drive v twin Honda Shadow and it runs like a dream. I've clocked 700 miles in the last week alone. Honda makes a good bike.

Harley riders are mostly conservative and these left wing policies are just wrong. I have owned 4 Harley’s in my life and I don’t need some outsiders telling what to believe. I have fought in one war and served the people as a Deputy Sheriff. My beliefs are my own and my favorite motorcycle company should the management should keep their opinions to themselves.
@erniecolussy17055 ай бұрын
And they should market the thoses with disposable income that will buy their motorcycles. Many say the LBGT community has greater disposable income due to less children. This could just be marketing to increase their customers base. Similar to their decisions to market to women fifteen to twenty years ago.

If Harley wants any chance to appeal to younger people around the world, woke is the way to go. But it will piss off the old dudes, making it a very difficult balance. Building better (and some more affordable) motorbikes would help.
@erniecolussy17055 ай бұрын
I think that you missed one part of the nuance. Marketing. For fifteen to twenty years Harley Davidson has been leading other motorcycle companies in marketing to women. They got in front of the increasing percentage of riders that are women. I know some old timers thought that it was silly (or worse) for HD to do that. At that time expressing that opinion would have meet more resistance than today. The strategy of marketing to women has been positive for HD. I believe that this is mostly a marketing strategy for HD. I believe that statistically fewer LTGB people have dependences / children. That generally means more disposable income. A group with more disposable income seems like a good group to target market.

I have heard Harley is now moving some of the production of bikes for domestic U.S. consumption to Thailand which would be a change and cause more of it's American workers to lose their jobs. Depending on the results of the November election higher tariffs may be forthcoming to Thailand built Harley's destined for sale in the U.S.

Im a HD buyer, I have 2, 23 models, I will not buy another till they turn away from DEI. Its not HDs job to meddle in social agendas. And the part with kids is the sickest of all. The CEO needs to step down, he let this happen. This is another case of a corporation, not understanding it's buyers And not caring what they think. It's a shame that the dealerships and people that worked there, will have to be affected by this.
@skymningforelsket13025 ай бұрын
Sounds like they can foist any abuse they want at the public, and you'll eventually forget about it, forgive, and go back to stuffing money in their pockets. In fact, corporations rely upon the public having the memory span of a gnat. NFL I'm looking at you. er, nobody even remembers the disgruntled baseball fans who were "done with baseball" after they had a strike, but in fact forgot about it as soon as the strike was over. I didn't like that Sara Lee (makers of Hanes and Kiwi) got involved in gun control in 1995. And I haven't spent 1 cent on a Sara Lee product in 29 years. That's what it takes if you are serious about holding corporations accountable. Not this "oh they better say sorry and then I'll go back and give them more money"

I have enjoyed your content for a long time. I think you handled the touchy subject with grace. I've been riding motorcycles since I was 14 years old and I am now 69. I still have a bunch of motorcycles. I love watching motorcycle reviews, test rides and what people think about any particular motorcycle. Now I live in Texas and I have all of my life. I'm sure you know where that's going. I appreciate when someone presents an ideal with intelligence in Grace. You did a good job. Most ideas come from people that yelled the loudest. Again I say, beautifully presented. There is nothing like intelligent communication. I have never owned a Harley and I don't drink beer... Yikes, I'm a Texan. I would pat you on the back and shake your hand, but I live pretty far south, so I will give you a big 👍 "Texas on the prairie"

This is hands down the best video I've seen on this topic (full disclosure, I've only watched 3 or 4 of them . . . but still). What is going on at H-D Corp. is a microcosm of what is going on on a societal scale. Social hange almost always begets resistance, at least initially. But, typically, resistance eventually subsides and the change(s) becomes the new normal, certainly on larger scales - e.g. through government / public institutional implementation of supportive structures and policies for change. However, history also tells us that the pendulum swings back . . . especially when change is revolutionary and not evolutionary.

HD has gone full woke and proud of it. Now HD has started moving the company to Thailand because they know the company will not change. Thailand already builds their bikes and has a slight difference in the brand logo. HD had gone to crap many years ago and was pushing woke hoping not to be exposed.

Best explanation yet. Starbuck is trying to rile people up for clicks. H-D has been doing this for years and it's reflected in their advertising and accessories catalogs. About a year there was another attempt to inflame peoples outrage, but it didn't take off. Will it succeed this time? Personally I'm more concerned with the bikes losing their unique traditional H-D qualities. 😢

Harley and UFC, are global brands. Harley appears to be in touch with global attitudes. UFC and Robbie, appear to be out of touch. Today was a sunny winters day and I saw 100's of riders enjoying a ride in the Clare Valley, many on Harley's. Those Harley riders matter too.
