I’m Brazilian and teach English and Spanish to Brazilians, by considering my experience what I have to say about that is: 1- The main and most important factor is motivation, some people are obligated to speak a foreign language due to their jobs and not because they enjoy it. 2- They don’t use to practice listening very often, and also have little contact with native speakers, what makes things even difficult. 3- In general, Latin languages pronunciation, at least Portuguese and Spanish are made in the front part of the mouth, while English is made in the back of the mouth, with all sounds concentrated in the throat. But of course that’s is something anybody can build by exercising the muscles of these parts. That’s all folks :)!

As a native English speaker, GOOD LUCK LEARNING THIS WEIRD LANGUAGE! We even have random German and French words in our language used every day, plus we added letters on to words to make them look cooler, for example "debt" and "queue" Just listen to some southern accents. Even I am still getting used to them.
