Thank you Madam. Beautiful video. Diffusion capacity of lungs for a gas is calculated in this video. Here CO carbon monoxide is used and reason mentioned. But will the diffusion capacity of lungs for O2 and CO2 be different ? I think yes, then why CO is calculated ? What is significance of that ? Thank you 🙏

Diifusion capacity is we can say the maximum ability of membrane to allow diffusion. In physiological conditions, for oxygen and carbon dioxide, this maximum capacity is not reached because they diffuse very fast when everything is normal. That’s why we use CO to study ...whose diffusion is limited by membrane properties...in simple terms had membrane been better- CO would diffuse better...hence CO diffusion is known as being diffusion limited

Diffusion capacity is not inversely proportional to pressure gradient. It is dependent on the characteristics of the membrane I.e area and thickness. So if we see the formula for Ficks law of diffusion, for determining diffusion capacity we have to rearrange the formula
