Def do not cut the bottom row of siding. It’s connected to this channel that kinda holds it in place. I’m not a siding expert but seen it done. If you cut it, the bottom row will just flap in the wind and probably come off at some point.

I have trouble understanding Eric sometimes he has worked with Ryan long enough to know how he does things like this job Ryan would have done it in two days probably but Eric always has to go get something or it takes forever to do something he does good looking work just not being properly prepared when you get to any job you should have everything for that day and when you leave you should know what you will need for the next day ive worked for a company and done a side business for years then just went on my own sometimes stuff breaks or happens but not everyday its part of managing a job and a company when I start a job I have a material list for everything needed on the job if its more than a one day job I have enough to work 8 hours i figure every job with 8 hour days
