Stokey had cat 2 D 10 working in Merthyr Tydfil in the 1990,s for Wimpey mineing removing the old white tip or the Whitney,as the locals called it, I'd never seen a d10 before,only do 9,s ,i spent many hours watching it strut its stuff,over the year or so they were on site, made a few great videos of it,on a warm July day, but I,'ve lost the tapes, a Guy called Joe Houston worked on site, i met him a few yrs back, but think he,s retired now, promised him a copy of the film.I was very proud of it at, the time.

That's not an oil cooler (@2:00) my friend, that your A/C condenser, all the Oil coolers in the D11n d11R and d11t are the Oil to water type. I haven't been lucky enough to run a d11R or D11T, but have run D11Ns and the 84W D10s all impressive big machines.

I didn't notice him saying anything about "TEMP"S", he just said gauges--not what it did. I guess I enjoyed this operators sense of humor the best--and his humility. I bet he gets many extra hours of life out of that baby due to his diligence and care. The owner is a lucky man.

Nice work mate.Thats humble operating experience.well explained.beets listening to a Canuk.Operating Dozers does become part of your DNA after a while.Cats are by far the machine of choice for most Contractors without a shadow of a doubt.While the Rs getting a bit long in the tooth, in the hands of a good operator its still up there.

In terms of quality and maintenance costs, how does Caterpillar compare to Liebherr and Komatsu?
@TheIrongutz
@TheIrongutz 8 жыл бұрын
I run both the brand new CAT D11T and New Komatsu 475A equivalent. I can tell you no one wants to run the Komatsu at our site. They are rough, do not back up the steep stuff, don't like being on their sides when side cutting, poor flat track design, get stuck much easier, not as user friendly with poor stick steering control vs. CAT finger paddle steering and have too low 1st gear and too high second gear. The CAT outperforms in every situation hands down! Problem at our site is poor availability of CAT parts and poor service by Finning CAT and are waaaay more expensive to purchase. Mines are cutting costs by going Komatsu with initial purchase but they lose money on less production in real world mining. I rate the Komatsu product as 6 out of 10 vs. 9 out of 10 for CAT. I'd love to try the new Lieber

That is an ac condenser. Guy knows the machine buy what he read in the operation book behind the seat is all
@RRaucina
@RRaucina 7 жыл бұрын
Usually the condenser is in front of the oil cooler and or the radiator. [First in the incoming air stream] Hydraulic Oil coolers are typically in the airstream after the radiator. This rig likely has a transmission oil cooler somewhere also. So get out your repair manual to figure it out. The op manual is unlikely to discuss this.

Don't like these "side-saddle" things. They just don't feel right. Give me a proper flat track where I sit centered with steering clutch levers coming out of the dash. These "new-fangled" high-track things are just some college-boy engineers idea about what ought to be. They don't have a clue. And never will.
