Digging and installing 400' of waterline. This was a house I dug the frost footing on a couple of months ago. I need to come back and dig some on one of the footings so I stayed to make a day out of it and dig in the waterline. The meter is 410' from the house and it's very rocky soil, it took almost 5 hours just to dig the ditch. We installed a 2" pvc line to the house and an 1.25" for the irrigation system. I bedded the lines with screenings to protect from the rock. The city will come back and hook the lines up to the meters and I'll be back on this property when it's time to put in the yard. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #waterline

That's kinda what I was thinking too. Set up a couple screens and sort out what you need to top the drive off. We don't have limestone like that anywhere near the surface around here in NW Illinois. Gotta go over by the river to the quarry

If you were looking to find rocks, you hit the jackpot that day! Are they planning on using all those rocks for something or was that just a place to dump them? Nice job, and enjoyed the voice over. And I'm glad they took your advice on the 2 inch line - excellent recommendation, cost or not, they won't regret it.

@blackdogexcavator21
@blackdogexcavator21 2 жыл бұрын
You did those people a huge favor by increasing the size of the pipe. Hydraulics is weird in that if you have a single pipe that's say 1" and moving say 10 gallons per minute, and you lay a second pipe the same size, you only double the water carrying capacity or 20 gpm. But, if you only lay a single pipe that is a 2" ID, then your water carrying capacity is increased by 4 times or 40 gpm. I know you were tired of digging by the time you were done though.

There they are! I figured with that much elevation change you’d find the rock quarry. Having that rake sure helped separating them out. All those guys who say a ditch ought to be dug to a certain depth. within a half inch, haven’t dug here in S/W MO. Have they? Glad to see you could find pipe. I was at Lowes last week and they were out of electrical PVC over 3/4”. And fittings… there were more empty boxes than not. I went to three stores to get one 3/4” LB! Glad you got it in before the rain.

Maybe it was you that jinxed me today, digging postholes in sandy soil, hadn't seen a rock in over a mile of fence, then "bonk and thud" on the last six or eight posts. Hard to set posts in six foot wide holes where rocks were, and I'm too old to use the "idiot stick" busting holes in the rocks. But at least you got some rip-rap out of your extra work, I just got a backache.

Hey Brandon!! Looking like it’s DEFINITELY rocky!! Hahaha. I am surprised by the comments about not being able to hear you. I’m d*mn near deaf in my left ear from driving with my window down for 30 years as a LEO and before that even because air conditioning was a luxury I couldn’t afford. I also spent the first 55 years working around farm machinery which got quieter as I grew older, but the oldest machinery I ran when I was my youngest and the most damage occurred,,,,, was truly loud!! Then when I wasn’t working as a kid or even now when just driving I have some classic rock or heavy metal as loud as the system can take in the vehicle I’m in. My truck has the B&O system that’s decent, and some of my classic vehicle have almost painfully loud systems,,,,, just perfect then!!!😂😂 get that little trickle of blood coming out of your ear and you had it about right!! Haha. I don’t have trouble hearing you, either on my iPad, iPhone, home television (Bose sound system), or the awesome system I have in my office!! (Again Bose). The only time it can be harder is when the bass is too much. Cut back on the bass and it’s all good!! There must be some really picky guys, too stubborn or unaware to cut back the bass, or very deaf!! What you were doing was fine and I prefer the live comments, but whatever you do is fine by me. Dirt Perfect uses a mike all the time and it works really well, but I’m not sure if it works for you. Again, whatever you do works!!! So long as there isn’t tooo much country music!!😂😂😂 seriously! 😂 I was at my buddy’s place the other day while he was planning his home build on an acreage. From watching, basically, you Chris and Mike, I was able to help him plan things a little more efficiently. He wanted to skip the service road and let them drive in on just the dirt. I asked him how long he would be willing to accept for delays as they pull each truck in and out,,,,,. He called me a smart*ss and is springing for a construction entrance and service road for the crews. Like you said,,, in the end with all the trucks packing it in, it will only be a better road in the end! Stay safe there, Eh!!
@eliteearthworksllc
@eliteearthworksllc 2 жыл бұрын
Lol thanks! I’m hard of hearing too. I’m still trying to find a decent mic maybe one day I will. Yes definitely want to build the road or driveway when starting the construction cause like you said it will cut down on the delays from being mud. And don’t worry I won’t have country music on here 😁

I'm just starting out in the excavation business. Any advice on expected daily production with digging electric service trench through rocky ground? Hourly/daily charge rate? Tb180fr
@eliteearthworksllc
@eliteearthworksllc 8 күн бұрын
It really just depends on the soil. I’ve dug 800ft in a day and I’ve dug less than 100ft. I try to get $1250 a day for my 260 but every area is different on price so you will probably have to figure out what your hourly or day rate needs to be.
