I was always youtube, then I started buying records and sampling and I have never looked back. Not out of any superiority complex but im so much more focused and careful with what i sample with records. When I go back to youtube playlists now i get so restless and overwhelmed I usually end up just landing on any old thing. Love the channel mate, love this new style of video too!

That’s a good point. There’s more incentive to get something out of vinyl. Can’t wait to have a session with mine. And glad to hear that as well man thanks 🙏

Digital, vinyl, and sometimes VHS if things got a nice wonk. Sometimes will seek out the vinyl after starting w digital but that can obv get 💸….pitch shifting is way better w vinyl / 4 track etc

Sometimes it's fun to dig on KZbin using Samplette or something, but the most fun thing to do is go to my local flea market spot and grab a bag's worth of cheap 7 inch singles. There's rarely any cover art, so it's forced me to learn labels and names, as well as to judge by aesthetic. There's no cell service either, so I can't cheat using KZbin lol

I messed with sample packs bit didn't really do it for me (not hating on those that dig them). Been a vinyl head since 1997 and probably have too many records. Love sampling from vinyl and all my beats have vinyl samples for all of the elements. Will be excited to see what you cook up. Would recommend the sampling and 45 and pitching down, just got into that myself

Dope man yeah. I like drum packs but I don’t like packs with samples too much. Feels a bit too easy using those. I’ll have to try that trick, thanks. Maybe that could be an idea for another video 👊

@spvidz yeah man. I don't have a 202 but I bet the samples would sound great on that (sp1200 style). I've had some pretty good results using the zoom sampletrak this way and also just recently got a lofi 12xt so going to try it on that as well...

I’ve seen dibiase do it with the xt and it sounded very much like the old classic samplers 👍

My MPC 2500 SE has a DVD inside....so sampling from CD and DVD is super easy, barely an inconvenience, and with 500 CD's and 80 LP's guess what dominates. And the Concert Gebouw Orchestra is one of the best orchestras in the world. So with that you can't be wrong. The PT01 is made for portablism.

Always nice to see people sampling records. When I do sample based beats, it's strictly vinyl. Reasons: I like the sound, you can sample at 45/33, slow down, pitch up... I like the whole beatdigging science, looking at the covers and liner notes... Also, i started dj'ing before doing beats,so records is all I know. More than 25 year of collecting got me enough heat to go through. I still go digging, specially flea markets and so but it's becoming harder to really find dope/rare stuff out in the wild and in the 1 euro crates, but there is still stuff out there. Thing is with records, you can find the most bizarre stuff (jingles records/ instruction records, language records, obscure soundtracks, local bands, ....) that you would never find on youtube or in digital form. *That Bionic Booger Break record you have is by DJ Q-Bert, and the SuperDuckBreaks is by DJ Babu, both classic scratch/dj records. Peace!

Absolutely right about finding random stuff. That is one huge advantage of digging in the bargain crates 🔥

Nice stuff man, I have that bionic booger breaks record too, dj qbert always releases good dj records u can sample from. I love diggin for vinyl and definitely get a lot of sample packs too. Keep these studio vids coming bro!

These days I sample from VHS tapes more than anything else... I love the sound of VHS and people practically give away the tapes!

Thats awesome! Would love to try that at some point

@@spvidz I was inspired by Horsepower Productions... their first album was made almost entirely from samples from their VHS collection 📼

Not to mention Recording to VHS. Especially when you find 6 hour tapes. Much preferred that back in the day rather than DAT that used to just eat tapes, ruin recordings, and just utterly piss you off.

Hey dude great video. I use a mix of vinyl and digital even sampled straight off youtube. Im an old head so i like the feel of doing things manually like aampling off vinyl but cant always as its expensive as well. Got quite a big collection from when i used to dj alot . Turntable wise ive got a vestax pdx2000 mk2. Which is 20 years old but still works perfectly used to be really into scratching so i got this turntable because djqbert was using one. Then sample it all through my 404mk2 ive got an mpc1000 but i dont really use as much anymore as sp is so quick

Thats dope! I'm going to have the SX next to mine I think. Its super quick for grabbing samples and adding FX and then I can just take the SD card and get them on my computer

I use vinyl and I have sample packs. I have to keep reminding myself that The only one who cares is me and other producers. And producers don’t make music for producers. 🤷🏾♂️
@spvidz3 ай бұрын
Nice! Yeah everyone has their different approaches. I prefer to dig either digitally or through vinyl, I find it a bit more satisfying than using sample packs

@@spvidz These days sample packs have melodic loops to chop up. I just bought a bunch of those. Conductor Williams made that beat for Drake from a sample pack. People can play keys better than me so imma let’em. 😂 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fInChXeAhJyln80si=e_OYgBRrjtiCuaxJ
