Polaris is not known for durability. Is any of this under warranty?

Maybe the bolt broke first, causing the rest of the carnage.

I like stock sleds. Fast enough as is.... Somebody who wrenches all the time on the side of the trail - soon doesn't get invited on trips. Just sayin' good vids tho.

I had that same thing happen to my 2007 Ski Doo Renegade. The head of the bolt popped off and got caught at the bottom of the chain case and blew out the bottom of the chain case. Didn't break the chain, so I drove sled to convenient pickup spot.

Chain failures have been around since the start of sleds haha. I'm curious to see how the newer belt drive systems like on the Catalyst hold up long term. Change out the belt accordingly at service intervals and it should be a pretty solid system.

It's time for ARP bolts on those gears. Also I like to replace those case bolts that have a self tapping trilobular threed with real bolts, and then there is ls less chance of stripping it out.

That's a great idea. I'm thinking there will be a lot of upgraded hardware on this machine for next season.

Think I should change my chain..and gears...6500 miles 22 XCR 850..............

Failures of the chain isn't all that common. I'm thinking the bolt let go first, somehow....but can't say for sure. $120-150 chain certainly is cheap insurance/peace of mind at that mileage though!

with the welding on the sled you did. do you just disconnect the battery?
@MunsonMotorsports9 ай бұрын
That's correct. There are some "anti-zap" systems out there you can get and hook to the battery/chassis leads as well.

Polaris is made cheap

After all the F-bombs, what do you think initiated this disaster? Chain, bolt 🔩, or ? I like to take the 5-whys approach to id the root cause. Thanks.

That's the big question...chicken or the egg...part of me thinks that the bolt broke first then got lodged in the chain somewhere as straight up chain failures aren't all that common...but the other part of me thinks that the chain truly did just snap and it locking up against the case created enough deflection in the gear to break the bolt. But I really don't know. The break in the bolt looked fresh/new, there wasn't a lot of contamination on the broken section. I'm most likely just going to start doing a chain every season on the big power sleds to be safe.
