Thank You for posting the videos on the DR5000. I bought on a recent trip to Europe. The videos have helped me greatly. Excellent information and quality.

There are two more reasons Ruud why to connect the DR5000 through LAN cable: 1) Since the DR5000 WiFi module in fact is a mini-router, Connecting the DR5000 to your home-router will provide Internet connectivity to all devices that connect trough the DR5000's WiFi 2) Reliablility: When using a network protocol to control the DR5000 from a train-control program, you would not want to have the implicit unreliability of WiFi, LAN throuh cable however is rock-steady reliable ;) But... very nice video indeed !! Can this work with a (ethernet) switcher instead?

Rudy Firstly, thank you for all your videos. Through your informative videos I have mastered TrainController (used for the past few years with an ESU ECoS 50200). I purchased my DR5000 as an upgrade path. Through this video I have connected it, via a LAN, to my PC. However, try as I might I have been unable to connect TrainController to it. You mentioned in this video that you may produce another video showing how to connect the DR5000 to other systems like TrainController. Is this still possible?

Do you succes to connect dr5000 to traincontroller. I try but not work. I select in traincontroler lenz tcp and I write ip from dr500. Only dr5000 conect bia lan it is work no problem.

Hello Fabrica It has been a long time since I encountered this problem. I remember trying everything I could but with no success. I gave up really and upgraded my DR5000 to a YaMoRC 9401. Then I purchased iTrain. This set up works very well on my layout. My apologies that I cannot help you more.

@@leswaters2275 thx for feedback... Because I have 4 dr5000 on my layout (150mp) I hope to find a solution. All the best from Romania.

Can I reset the loco via DR5000 Or do I need to do it via third party app (Network) if so how would I do this on the DR5000 ? Thank you

Nice video, but is it not about the DR5000 and not DR4000?

Hi - very informative as usual! If I do this can I still use the Z21 app as that uses a different protocol as per the previous video?
@ruudboer27036 жыл бұрын
Rupert S Yes ... you just can't use the PC app and the Z21 app at the same time, cause you'll have to set the Z21 protocol. If you need to change settings in the DR5000, (temporary) change the protocol to Dr. Command.
@DB--lv6tt6 жыл бұрын
Ruud Boer Hi, there's only one Problem: You can change the network protocol from Dr.Command to Z21 via LAN connection, but you CAN'T change it from Z21 to Dr.Command, because the commands are not possible thru Z21 protocol. Too do this you need a USB connection! If you have to connect DR5000 via LAN (cancel length) with Dr.Command protocol, you have to connect WiFi-throttles to your router/PC and use a program on the PC, for example rocrail with the androc app, rocweb (browser based) or with the virtual Z21 central installed as 2nd central if you wanna use the Z21 app. Greetings, André

Hi Rudy. Can I ask your support? I find your video very good but I bought this dcc central and I've some problems to connect by LAN. I'm using AR.CO.MO.RA projects togheter DR5000. TNX - Alex

Best thing to do is to connect via USB. Only use LAN if you really need to because of long distance between PC and DR5000. Should work if you follow the steps in the video, but apparently with you there is a hiccup ... can you describe every step you take and what response you see?

@@rudyshobbychannel Hi Rudy. Thank you for your answer. Yes, I'll connect my DR5000 by USB. But I'd like trying connect it by Ethernet. Can I write to you by email? So I can send you some print screen. Obviously I do not pretend to solve my problem. But I hope you can give me some useful suggestions to solve my problem

If I want to conect dr5000 with traincontroller via LAN, I have to change the protocol dr command?

Hi Rudy i asked you a while ago about optical detectors and you said it can be done which was good i also asked digikeijs and this was there good reply but i don't understand what they are saying ##- please type your reply above this line -## Hi Tony, If you know some electronics basic, you could build such an Opto-gate yourself. All you would need is an Open Collector output and you could use our DR4088-GND. the -GND version however has logic inputs, wich might become sensitive foor longer cabling than lets say 1 meter. For a more robust solution I advise you our DR4088-OPTO range. These come with built-in resistors and need external supply. Greets, Karst Drenth does this make sense to you regards tony

First of all I have no idea why you want to use optical sensors ... they make things more complicated than needed. But if you really want / need them ... here is the schematic that shows how to connect the output to a digital systen that reads "1" and '0" or HIGH and LOW levels: goo.gl/images/Nmfi6a
