Thanks for getting this video out so quickly! It's an important topic for the fandom and channels like yours I'm certain are looked at from time to time around product releases to see how the community at large is engaging with the product. (In this case, the comic) This is SO good for us! I especially like the decision for a global release and proper translations. It feels like they really want it to be accessible to fans as opposed to decisions in the past to not localize certain products. I'm also excited for more insect digis! Bug/Insect fans have been starved for too long. Lastly I'll tuck a small concern here. With it being the 25th anniversary of Digimon animation and seeing theme songs for Liberators, I wonder if maybe at one point this was supposed to be an animated series and there wasn't enough budget or faith for it.... I don't feel like Bandai felt rewarded from things like Adventure 2020 but what I'd tell them is that distribution platforms here in the west matter a lot. If they're trying to reach new demographics they have to license to Netflix or Disney Plus, not Crunchyroll where it will get buried by other anime and ignored by the target demographic of new kids/the common folk. Making Liberator an anime would probably be the best way to go. Out of everything Digimon does the anime has always had the biggest reach and audience. But it great to see Liberator actually being better than I thought it was going to be. And having some actually effort put into it.

Fun fact: In witchelny impmon naturally follow an evolution line that ends in medieval gallantmon. Impmon > Wizardmon > Mistymon > Medieval Gallantmon. So.. i guess you could say that they always were somewhat related. Takatos digivice had to pull the data to create guilmon from SOMEWHERE.. so i suppose that makes a sort of sense.

Honestly I think it's lame. Digimon leans way too heavily on copying digimon designs and then slightly tweaking them. Why couldn't they just keep the Guilmon line design elements out and keep the punk elements in? If pokemon has anything over digimon, it's the fact they have 1000+ unique monsters vs. digimons roster of nearly 1500 original+reskined monsters. If you cut out all the bloat, the gap would be much smaller.

@kilbymorgan8626 It's part of Digimon's lore that Digivolution is a related and interconnected phenomenon. Impmon has been able to digivolve into other Digimon in media outside of Tamers, so it's not like it digivolving into something other than Beelzemon is about replacing him. It's just a matter of expanding Impmon's lore and take advantage of one of the more fun aspects of Digimon.

If there’s one thing that Digimon Liberator being popular to the point of crashing the official Digimon site can teach us anything is that the group of people who became a Digimon fan thanks to the 2020 Card game are a lot bigger group than people thought. It’s almost feels like Tamers again where they used the cards in the anime in hopes to make card fans interested in other parts of the Digimon franchise and I think it might have worked here.

Before the Tamers show debuted in the U.S., we had the action figures released and i always speculated if Calumon and Impmon became Guilmon or Renamon. I was surprised when Guilmon and Renamon were introduced as rookies instead of champions (back when rookies were typically smol). This really brought me back to that idea!

So, for a good while now I had ACTUALLY been working on like a TTRPG style thing involving the Digimon Card Game. And oddly enough from what you showed in your video quite a few of the setups for Liberator are what I actually envisioned (though there are some heavy differences), a partner Digimon that reflects your deck/play style, a Digivice linked to your cards and such. I'll have to read the manga and see what else Bandai lifted from my talking points with myself lol.

Hopefully, Fanbeemon has a branching line that can cross over well with the current one (like the new D-brigade). Also, it's going to be interesting to see how the tamers are incorporated. So I may be wrong but this is a web novel? I just don't think it will be enough to bring Digimon back or farther than where it has been. I think they could do something huge with a game or/and an app. Maybe even add a device line. Something like Pokemon Go and Monster Hunter Now but obviously have some differences. Though I'm in the bandwagon that Impmon didn't really need to have an evil Guilmon evolution line, I don't think that the "evil punk rock Guilmon line" is any kind of bad. I'm willing to give Liberator a read mainly because I'm starving for digimon content and we're still waiting for more news on the new story game. Also my friend did bring up a good point and that is with yuki's impmon, since he has a different evolution line when compared to Tamers Impmon and the sexy female Beezelmon, Maybe they can use this new evolution line to seek its way into the new story game if it didn't already get considered that way. Who knows it's a thought and it could help further promote liberatior and even more digimon related content but still it's nice that Liberator is screaming interesting and maybe this would be a rather same level of intriguing as when I was reading that 1 digimon Manga that I forgot the name of sadly. I think it is safe to say that Digimon has hit its next golden era. While we don't have an anime yet, I think between the new web series, card game, models, and digivices pushes it to that point. The manga is beautiful, I love the Ex-Tyrannomon scene. While, I appreciate the manga and novel being free, I think Bandai/Toei could have made bank had they made them into physical comic book like American comics for every chapter. The new Ultimate Spiderman run and Robert Kirkman's Transformers multiverse show there is a market for physical chapter issues. The new digimon are interesting though Impmon's line will take some time. I pretty positive every partner Digimon is getting a new evolutionary line including Vemmon. One thing that is interesting is the Sunarizamon tamer will have big part in my opinion. Finally, while Impmon doesn't get to digivolve into Beelstarmon Sparrowmon will. 😋

I can understand people wanting Impmon to become Beelstarmon (I was hoping for Yuuki to give us a musketeers Tamer myself) but I do not understand anyone who wanted him to evolve to Beelzemon. Beelzemon is already plenty popular with lots of presence in the franchise, and in the card game specifically has tons support including a perfect Tamer(s). If they're gonna use a line of existing Digimon in Liberator, it should be Digimon that don't presently have their own Tamers or even associated humans in other media. If for no other reason than to give them Tamer cards that support them in the card game Liberator is promoting. Digimon like Beelzemon or Sakuyamon have a Tamer, so give the spotlight instead to Etemon, Dynasmon, the Three Muskateers, or maybe even Shakamon's group. Not that I am at all upset at us getting new Digimon instead when we do, I am loving the look of Heavy Metal Megidramon; I'm just saying there should be some prioritizing when it comes to appearances by established Digimon or Digimon lines, especially if it gives them a chance to finally associate with some partner humans.

Sir karn you know how the dark masters army are all named after a digimon field. Example: machinedramon’s army being called the metal empire. How about we give the rest of the fields a dark master and give them digimon that fit in their army. Example: tyrantkabuterimon being the dark master for the jungle troopers and his army comprising of kuwagamon,okuwamon,(that worm digimon that evolves into flymon) and more. This could be a fun video idea.

It is a promising start so far. The translations seem good, the art is above what I expected, and the characters seem fun. I was also this excited after the first couple episodes of Ghost Game, then that fell off so only time will really tell.

Oh hey, hadn't heard about Funbeemon becoming a partner and getting a new evolution yet. I'd expect a "queen bee" sorta evolution, whoever rules the Royal Base (although in a deck focused on the Royal Base, I DEFINITELY expect him to also play TigerVespamon, which would probably also evolve from Funbeemon or at least be able to). As for his Japanese name, his name there is "Saikiyo", with "saikyo" meaning "best", and looking at how they localized it, that's definitely more of a user/nickname... There being a reason Yuukis Impmon doesn't evolve to Beelzebumon OR Beelstarmon is also news to me, makes me hope that they'll still come up later, I mean, Beelstarmon just had a new card revealed that shouldn't be part of her deck, kinda implies at least it DOES play a role... but I could also just see the reason be because they wanted her to play a Dark Dragon-deck and there's some other reason they gave her Impmon as a partner for that. As for Liberators in general, I liked the setup of the first two chapters, but at the same time, I get a similar feelings as early Seekers, so I'm not too confident it'll do anything as big as "save Digimon". Especially the kinda support they've given it so far, both a webtoon AND a novel, and they gave it its own theme-song, makes me feel like they're going hard on supporting it, but should it not meet the expectations they set for it... they'll do the same as always, basically have it sink into obscurity while keeping it running to the end and then move on to the next thing. So... for me that's a strongly bolded *Might* in the title... I also have _some_ problems with the art so far, mainly that it feels like half of it is off the page, some of the big panels are just too close up, like, it especially bothered me after Shoemon first appeared, perhaps it's intentional, perhaps it's me being too used to reading manga, but I feel that could use some work and I look forward to how the artist is going to evolve throughout the series. As for Liberators getting an anime... I personally don't see it. I think it'd be cool, while reading the first two chapters I even thought how some of these scenes would probably work pretty well animated, but with how Digimon usually is with its media, usually keeping it all rather seperate and trying to do something new with every iteration, I really doubt they'd adapt this, with how different the cardgame-format is from the usual Digimon-anime... unless this really just breaks expectations and becomes ultra popular. Maybe the next Digimon anime could take some lessons from Liberators though, what I personally liked in the first chapter was that the MC started with Muchomon and the girl with Junkmon, presumably Muchomon will be somewhat of a secondary partner/mascot for the MC, I feel it'd be a really good idea to have multiple partners like that in the anime as well, it'd be a way to give older Digimon a chance to be partners while the main partners could still be new Digimon like they usually do. Ghost Game also was kinda experimenting close to that idea, even though they didn't fully commit to it, so I could definitely see it work.

I adore how Impmon and Guilmon are direct parallels of each other. They now both have a reptilian/machine line that peaks with a very menacing and threatening dragon, but they also have distinct humanoid forms with Beelzemon and Gallantmon and upgrades through their respective Blast and Crimson modes. You could even make the case that BeelStarmon is a parallel to MedievalGallantmon, since they are both bring a unique twist to their "original" form. Honestly, I think that we WILL see this partner Impmon turn into BeelStarmon at some point, since no partner Digimon has ever taken that form. Also, given the parallels I mentioned above, I'm shooting my shot now: we're going to get another Mega that acts as the parallel to ChaosGallantmon, maybe even just being called ChaosBeelzemon.

I mean it's certainly possible for Yuuki's Impmon to get BeelStarmon as an alt. Mega; BeelStar is showing up in the Liberator EX set (and EX sets typically stay very on theme so she's probably not there just to be cool, she sould be somewhere in the Liberator comic). Although her showing up in the set as Three Msukateers support could instead mean someone in Liberator is just going to play a Three Mustateers deck at some point, and I'm not sure if the set up is there for that to be Yuuki given her Tamer card's effect. Heck, perhaps this hypothetical 3M play could instead be an opponent to Yuuki; a rival with the same Rookie partner but a wildly different evolution line & deck. They did say there'd be a reason Yuuki's Impmon evolves into neither Beelzemon or BeelStarmon; and while being saved as a later form is one option, being used by a rival character is a cool alternative.

I was actually planning to do a fanmade digimon thing, using a punk rocker girl with an Impmon as one of the main characters, I was planning on having her mega be Beelstarmon but I might have to use this new evo because it fits so well (I do still wanna use Beelstar somehow though but I can probably figure something out, maybe use it as a Mode change/alternate path for use in smaller areas, maybe that could work.)

It’s also available on Webtoons site which I like because I’ve recently been fallowing some web comics on there and now there’s Liberator too. I’m curious about the girl with Ghostmon, that new promo art makes it look like she’s going to part of the main trio with Shoto and Arisa. I saw someone mention on twitter that in the Japanese version there’s a smaller speech bubble that doesn’t cover up a picture in Arisa’s room that looks like it has the Ghostmon girl in it with Arisa, so maybe they’re already friends. Maybe this will be the first time we have a Digimon story with the main trio we focus on is one guy and two girls, instead of the usual inverse most series do. Edit: I hope Liberator does well, then maybe it will get an anime. Yugioh isn’t the only long running card game anime so maybe Digimon could become one too?

I'm mixed on digimon liberator, but I'm also not into the card game. The fact that it's every 2 weeks is good, in terms of Seekers felt like a chore or homework, but every 2 weeks, that's a nice pace.

We did get a Beelstarmon ace card that has direct connections with a Sparrowmon card of all things, for EX07, so it sounds like Beelstar / the three musketeers may have a different (and possibly less significant, similar to blucomon's) role in Liberator? That's my assumption anyways, since we're still getting three musketeers support in THE Liberator set. It's interesting and I wonder what her role will be in the series!

Personal guess is that we could see a 3M player acting as an opponent, or even a rival, to Yuuki. Presuming the deck does still have it's own Impmon, we could see a kind of dynamic where two Tamers have the same partner Digimon at the rookie level but have them go down different evolution paths...which now that I type that out, is a dynamic I don't think we've actually seen in this franchise before.

Karn, I'm sure you get this question a lot, but what is the song your intro comes from? I've been really enjoying Liberator so far, I'm very excited for more. I must admit I'm a little exhausted by the constant "this should be an anime this should be an anime why isn't this an anime they need to make this an anime" talk about _everything_ that isn't an anime. Heard it about Seekers, am hearing it about Liberator, people vastly underestimate how _expensive_ and how challenging animation is to do. It requires a whole different roadmap of work than a comic does, and while a comic is still a lot of work to panel out and finish, it's certainly nothing compared to animation and getting voice actors and doing music and making everything look good in motion. Like, I'm gonna be quite frank, but I think so much of this comes from Digimon fans just not wanting to read. Seekers is a novel? Make it an anime. Liberator is a manga? Make it an anime. I don't want to read the pages I just want to sit in front of my screen and watch it all play out. I like that Digimon stretches across all forms of media and when they make an anime out of something I want it to really count and be cool rather than them just needing to fill a seasonal slot.

I feel with the fact that Impmon looks literally like a jester him getting this new line makes sense since jester/joker/harlequins wild nature he could have new evo lines. Plus Guilmons line is his but his lore is that he was created by Takato meaning his forms are the idea given by a child and with Duke/galantmon being from witchelny it tracks that his line isn’t a line but just a possibility

Medieval gallentmon from witchinly and gallentmon are actually 2 separate digimon do gallentmon the royal knight which guilmon evolves into has nothing to do with medieval gallentmon and in digimon dreamers manga it quite literally confirmed that medievalgallentmon common evolution line is wizardmon mistymon and medievalgallentmon

For now I'm calling the new evos Roarmon (roar being parallel to growl) BoomRoarmon (Boombox) and MegaAmpmon (amplifier for an electric guitar, also sounds kinda like Megidramon) I hope they cook better than I can for the actual names though

I was excited when they announced the new Manga, and I was not disappointed. Here's to hoping it continues to be great. I'll be keeping up with it. But I'll admit the "digivice" 😅 is a little silly, not that it will stop me froming buying the deck box. No such thing as too many of those for your cards.

From what I'm seeing it seems that Digimon is at a spot where it's doing fine with its TGC, Web novels and v pet and the occasional Adventures 01 and 02 stuff. It might not be where WE WANT it to be. But at least it's still an ip that's alive. Hopefully it proves to be monetary stable enough for Bamco and Toei alike to hopefully take more risks with the ip.
