The reason why Grand Generamon is named like that is because in canon of the Reference Book, is that the Digimon that are from the group is that they are the Death Generals, they are inspired on the days of the week in China. Although like with other Digimon like the Royal Knights, their names don’t align with their inspirations as only Apollomon would represent Sunday, the others is hard but are referenced that the days are named after elements. The Royal Knights are based on the Round Table of King Arthur.

The Digimon was featured in the anime Digimon, in the season called Xros Wars/Fusion. The main villain had seven Generals that were called Death Generals. After all seven were defeated, the villains of the anime took their data and combined them into...this. That's why it's called GrandGeneramon. It is ONLY in Xros Wars that those seven Digimon are refered to as Generals, which makes the fused one's name more than a little confusing. There's a reason the Xros Wars/Fusion season is the least liked of the whole series by the whole fan base, and this thing plays into it.

The royal knights are ‘based’ on the knights of the round. Like 80% of them were made before hand and just shoved in. Only really Examon and maybe Jesmon(?) we’re made with that theme in made. The rest are just ‘knight’ adjacent

I argue Gallantmon is a perfect evolution. As guilmon evolves, it gets more aggressive and more ‘evil’, until it turns into the monstrous Megidramon. Gallantmon is Guilmon fighting against its own destiny to become a paragon of justice.

It's also more humanoid since it was invented for the third season of digimon where the final evolution was the human tamer and the digimon fusing, so all the mega evolutions were humanoid because the human partner was mostly in control. Which obviously isn't part of the general lore of Gallantmon as a species, but that is what the design space was when it was made.

On top of that, Megidramon is what happens when Wargrowlmon's power within the digital hazard goes out of control. Megidramon is the form it becomes as a result or ChaosGallantmon. Gallantmon meanwhile is where the power of the digital hazard has been mastered and controlled. Also in the Tamers canon, Gallantmon wasn't created from Takato's drawings and that was the point. This is the form they attained because both Takato and Guilmon had to regain their bond to each other and both had the desire to fight together.

If you folks are curious at all why some of the names existed… Peckmon - this one was one of the digimon early on where when they had nothing better to do, just do English Word + Mon. Most Japanese kids take English, so it would be interesting for them. Unfortunately they directly translated it. And yes, Peck is not what I would go with. GrandGeneramon - an anime only digimon of the Death General Arc. They just named it GrandGeneramon on the fly. Wouldn’t put too much thought into it as it was a one off anime creature used as a distraction. Bulkmon - this guy came from a exercise app. All the digimon there are based off exercise concepts. Bulkmon is based off bodybuilding and the electric elements are from its previous form. Gallantmon - Designwise, it might seem strange, but another digimon is his “true” final form. Megidramon. The lore of this Digimon is that he is born to be a literal calamity to the world (and no the kid didn’t design it that way, it is guessed the virus literally hijacked the kid’s drawing and added itself to Guilmon’s egg). Gallantmon is the form he takes when he suppresses his instincts and controls the virus to do good instead. In the anime, it was primarily die to fusing with his human partner. Dorumon - more of a lore reason, but his name is based on a codename for it: Digimon OR Unknown-monster… yeah I don’t get acronyms either.

Uh, no? Unless it was something added in the dub, Takato intentionally designed Guilmon as a virus-type. He talks about it in the first episode. Also, Peckmon wasn't an early Digimon, he made his first appearance in 2006, with Digimon Savers (Data Squad in the U.S.)

@@RabblesTheBinx Actually Peckmon debuted in Digimon Next. I still consider the era before Savers early Digimon, so Peckmon’s debut comes at the very end of the first decade of Digimon. On Guilmon, Takaro never designed the Digital Hazard specifically. His first Guilmon sketches didn’t have it, so it is assumed that the formation of his digiegg got marked somehow. No one knows how tbh.

You know, sometimes I hear japanese names for Pokemon, and realize they aren't much better, don't remember the pokemon but it was based off an animal and was literally just given the animal name it was based off (imagine a giraffe themed pokemon named giraffe, and then you get the picture) Even the translated versions are pretty dumb at times, ngl.

@@webbowser8834 I used giraffe as an example, i think it was a lizard pokemon (not charizard) that was just named Lizard, which i didn't remember that being the name, and was just like, what?! When watching the new anime that's coming out (with the new protags) idr which episode, but yeah i saw a familiar pokemon, they called it the name of an actual animal, I was just shocked they had zero creativity in the name, tho i knew some of the names in japanese were also just normal words of like fork in japanese and such, but yeah, neither Pokemon nor Digimon are creative in their naming sense for the most part.

@@RippahRooJizah I’d argue Pokémon names are more creative just because theirs often several words mixed together in a clever way to form the name of a Pokémon while Digimon names are more descriptive. Not necessarily a bad thing by any means but it is that but it usually doesn’t take much brain power to figure out a Digimon name.

And there are plenty of Pokemon names that are just singular words which may or may not be some odd way of spelling/saying it. Which is why I say Pokemon names are barely more creative. Both sides do the same things when it comes to naming creatures, just Digimon *usually* being more direct and Pokemon's being more varied in structure. I mean, you have stuff like Charmander, Muk, Klink, Tediursa, Quaxly, Mimikyu and the like that do not take much to "figure out".

@7:26 No? Like....not really all that close to right? The Pulsemon is the mascot for the Vital Bracelet. Does it have a phone app? Yeah, but the app isn't really for anything more than PvP battles. Everything else is in the bracelet itself. It's sort of like a fitbit-lite. You can get the Vital Hero line of bracelets for like $20 a piece, with the newer Vital Bracelet BE line being roughly $60+. It tracks steps and gives some exercise missions to help grow and evolve your digimon. Just feels very weird to see something like the Vital Bracelet be called an attempt at a 'Japanese-only Pokemon GO' when the bracelets aren't Japanese only and there's nothing like the Pokemon GO gameplay in them. No GPS, no catching monsters, no anything like that. I own a Vital Hero bracelet (the blue one that came with the Gabumon line). The Wolf's Howl DIM it came with was in english. I do have two japanese DIMs (Jellymon and Angoramon), but that doesn't make it a Japanese-only product. A better comparison is that they took one of the Digimon virtual pet toys, dumbed the gameplay down, and combined it with a dumbed down version of a fitbit. And the exercise-focus of the Vital Bracelets is what the Pulsemon line is based around. It's an electronic fitness device. So you get Pulsemon and he 'bulks up' with muscle due to exercise, becoming Bulkmon. Bulkmon becomes more focussed, a bit leaner, and starts doing tournaments, becoming the martial-arts focussed Boutmon. Then it gets so good at exercise, perfecting its body and soul, that it becomes an electric samurai god known as Kazuchimon (listed as a Deity-type Digimon).
