Gameplay theory is so needed right now so players don't just get wrapped up in just optimizing their deck but have enough strat and cards to play around almost all decks they will play against at Nats.
@DIGI-PANDA21 күн бұрын
Agreed! There's not as much on gameplay theory - and I think it's partially because a lot of creators look for what gets the clicks and views. It's a balance to navigate.

It definitely depends on how you're building your board and how much sauce your boss monster has. It's very hard to keep level 3s and 4s around because they catch strays so easily, might as well get the check in before they die, especially if your level 6 can't close out the game by itself. A lot of decks need the early chip too, either to guarantee the OTK later or simply to start the clock. Relative power level is also important. If your deck is weaker than your opponent's, they're gonna out-value you regardless. You have to somewhat bank on them bricking a bit and take your advantage where you can get it because if you both reach an endgame board they're gonna win every time. In even matchups you can be a bit more methodical IMO and try to slowly accumulate advantage before going for the win. I agree that in a vacuum it's optimal to try to OTK your opponent, especially if they can get a ton of value from lucky security hits, but it's not always feasible and definitely not without risk. Building up to lethal on board before attacking extends games, making it easier for slower decks to catch up, plus it eats up the clock in a tournament which may come back to bite you. Def an interesting video!
@DIGI-PANDA15 күн бұрын
Definitely agree with a lot of your talking points! Frankly, more and more players can accelerate quickly to a Ruin Mode or even just find DeathXmon and drop it on board and be like.. ok now what? And since they just got reprinted to, it's now even easier.

Digimon used to be more easily confronted as a game of aggro vs set up. This video just makes me sour, yeah we have decks now that theoretically you should wait to hit in a establish board, yet can chomp your board away on their way to their wincon. On top of "if your deck even can play like this" the game is really a war of "do you have the out?" now every decent deck can do everything and is not allowed to have any inherent weakness
@DIGI-PANDA18 күн бұрын
I look back at a lot of old card games and feel like this is ultimately what happens - they start out slow and fair, and then the results of powercreep to stay relevant causes huge shifts that inevitably you're constantly creating board breaking conditions in which you have to continue outdoing.
@enigmaticheart66621 күн бұрын
It really boils down to "just be lucky" and don't hit tamers and options lmao, that's literally all you can do

I main Terriermon biomerge and tend to do well vs hybrid matchups even in regionals. How I normally approach the matchups is 2-3 body's on board, chipping & searching quartzmon. Rapid x tends to help vs the stragglers with low DP from swinging, megagargomon helps because you can tag up to FOUR targets. Ex: they have 4 tamers on the field swing with an ukkomon, blast, suspend 2 tamers tag the other 2 with no digivolution. Ikky situation for them

This is one reason why I love blast digivolution Digimon. It counters potential crack backs that can end the game.

Tbh as a Red hybrid player I just pray sometimes not gonna lie because although I can 2 turn otk I have to be lucky in getting the otk in the first place then praying about no options in sec if there’s no Aldamon under. The crack back thing is SOOO REAL tho, the amount of times my board got cleared and they swing into my sec hit 2 tamers and die because of it is crazy!

Definitely agree. Red Hybrid can sometimes open the most bonkers hands and then just crack back win if your opponent chips one at a time. Offensively I'd say it's really strong. It's just defensively it can suffer sometimes.

I think there's a level of paralysis that can happen with all of MUs unfortunately. It's extremely incumbent on non-meta crackback decks to build wide and fast. But if that takes even ONE turn too long all the effort was for nothing and then you're forced to attack with what's left... And suddenly you've got multiple tamers or option cards in security and it's still GG.
@DIGI-PANDA21 күн бұрын
I see this frequently happening all the time with not just the games from events, but my personal games too. It's usually not a card you're missing. It's just a single turn. XD

@DIGI-PANDA haha yeah! Like good example, I was poised to faceroll this PH deck the other night with my fish deck. But I got hit with a surprise instant trash of my Hexebalumon and if I'd had gotten a Kaiser Nail earlier I could have protected my board and cleared them out.

@@DIGI-PANDAthis is definitely true… and is there any way to stop every top deck from being/becoming this? It feels like most decks are just ignoring me, assembling their pieces, constantly gaining lots memory (or in takemikazuchi’s case stealing mine) and swinging for game in one turn. I see so many people dooming about how every deck does this now and that it feels is miserable (and I have a hard time disagreeing in most cases). Do you think there are ways to slow down the game in a healthy way, or are we stuck at a point of no return where everything ends up killing in one ignorant setup? I watch regional tournament videos from Asia (East the goat) and I think that’s really interesting gameplay. It’s just that the power level is so much higher than everything else. Maybe I should just wait for my favorite decks to get that top tier treatment too one day…
