Good video Amy..always used cash envelopes to budget in the past but the pandemic has forced everyone to go almost cashless. Originally I used different accounts and prepaid cards for different types of spending but recently started using something called a 'Curve Card,' which links all your cards into one card.

What a great idea to use Google sheets for a couple x

I hope everyone tries to use cash as much as possible. If the government have their way, we will be cashless and will lose control of when and where we can spend/go

Does your food budget include household products such as washing powder, cleaning products etc or is that under miscellaneous? X
@belindax48973 жыл бұрын
I have never really budgeted but I really must now. Obviously it’s different for everyone but in your food budget do you also put cleaning products and such like. ? Or do these go elsewhere

I bought lots of reusable items. Like instead cotton pads for make up removal and toner I bought reusable one which you just wash, also bought reusable hygienic pads ( lot better for environment and you won’t have to buy them ever again) they also sell moon cups which I bought but don’t use as the pads are that great. With cleaning products I bought massive pot of baking soda and 5litre containers of white vinegar. In spray bottle add vinegar, water, washing up liquid and it is non toxic and cleans better than any store bought cleaner. I keep on buying bleach. Also what I want to buy for dishes is like a special soap bar and use that as washing up liquid (they do it in Japan) also using more my freezer. You can freeze bread, milk, cheese, fruit, veg. Pre cut herbs, place in ice tray add olive oil or stock or water and once it’s frozen put in a bag and keep in freezer. Learning how to store properly vegetables is good too. Also getting cheap sim. I used to pay £20 now pay £8 by using talk mobile card for unlimited calls and messages and 12gb ( I always used to pay for unlimited internet and had a look every month I used only 2gb so downgraded)

New subscriber here!!! I love the cash envelope system by Jordan Page (I love her!) Really love your videos, especially as you’re in the UK too. I find my extra spending mostly goes on extra spends (non-food items) in the supermarket like beauty products, books etc. I’m challenging myself to no hair cut or colour (just me) for a year!! I’ve had it done every 8 weeks since I was about 17! 💕

Hi I've just discovered your channel on digital cash stuffing, can I ask, how does it work, and is it actually safe ? 😊💞

Hi! Just discovered your channel and would love your opinion on the grocery budget in a per person/per month type basis? What is a reasonable budget vs a tight budget for when you are working towards a savings goal or paying off debt? I’ve seen some US vloggers recommend $100/per person per month but not sure that translates so well to £££
@AmyRuth4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I always find this difficult as everyone's situation is different. As a general rule though I think allowing £60 per month per person is a reasonable budget allowing room for convenience foods. However I would say £70 per month if just a single person household. If you are on a tighter budget or have more space to store foods then I think £40 per month per person is a good figure. It is very possible to reduce this even further if you are on a very restricted budget and still eat well. The most important thing when it comes to food is maintaining a healthy balanced diet. As a family of 4, our food budget is £160 for the month and allows us some luxuries. I have spent a long time trying to bring this cost down though. The food budget is usually a place people can make immediate savings. I hope that all makes sense, thanks for watching.

Do you have totally separate banks or do you have multiple Accounts in one bank.

@@AmyRuth Thank you. It's such a clever idea. I've tried doing my finances online but if I want something I just transfer it from another account. This way I can't. 😁

We only have 2 banks accounts (one each for me and my husband) could this work with 2 accounts? We are trying to save in these accounts too ( not going well due to furlough )
@family-peace-love4 жыл бұрын
Was thinking hubby's account cause it's the main bills account , could be the savings account and mine the general spend.
@AmyRuth4 жыл бұрын
I think that would work really well. It is manageable from just one bank account but you really have to be on top of everything and its definitely more work than with 2 or more. Its the general variable costs that can cause issues so having them from yours and bills/ saving (when you can) as your husbands would be a good work around. As long as you are able to track what is left in your remaining "envelopes" the system should work really well.

@@AmyRuth I'm going to give it a go. I can easily transfer money to him when he needs it. Thanks x
