Change starts with that one step...I’ll definitely be watching this again. Digital rights. Something I honestly have not thought much on.I guess it’s time to start thinking...

It would have been interesting to actually present a plan on how to go about this. Who should do what? How should it be paid for and who should pay for it? And who is going to pay for the gadgets, such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets etc. to go with connectivity? Who is going to pay for routers? Deliver them? Install them? The talk is good, is absolutely true, but provides no solutions. In addition: when I recently spoke wit young people in a rural area of Zambia and discussed internet use, they made it clear they only use it for whatsapp, for facebook. And this is where people have received lots of wrong information. About lots of topics. I hope this talk inspires people to come up with solutions. It would make the talk impactful.

This lady and her community is talking about it and highlighting it and the importance of it. I run an awakening page on Facebook, TikTok, instagram and a website and share positive information. I find the younger the most enlightened and learn a lot from them! Your message is contradictory you say they can’t get online but they hear the wrong message if they ain’t online they aren’t hearing anything! I’ve donated 2 routers to friends in Jamaica to help them access the internet for the childrens education. Apart waiting for someone else to do something- WHAT ARE YOU DOING??

The difference between now and then was net neutrality. No one back then took it seriously while the internet as we knew it was being threatened and it was voted out and revised. It fully went into effect in 2018.

Global tax rules, giving a percentage of their profits to the countries they operate in, will give governments the funds to spend on winning votes, not necessarily on free Internet, but it's a start and a priority for developing countries.

I agree that everyone should have access, it sounds like the speaker's definition of "Fair" is askew. How do you limit it and remain fair? Who decides what content and access is "Fair"? Does Xi Jin Ping decide? Donald Trump? Joe Biden? Vladimir Putin? The EU? The UN? It is a slippery slope to ruining the internet, not making it "Fair".
