Your not alone. My Panasonic plasma VT30 TV from 2011 also plays every day. The image is still very sharp, I had it recalibrated 2 years ago, when I stream a movie from Disney plus with my Nvidia Shield Pro or play a blue ray dvd, the colors splash off the screen. The only disadvantage... The high power consumption, especially when you watch 3D movies.

Hey everyone! There’s a section where the video recording betrays the narrative because what we caught on camera doesn’t match what I see live. This happens a lot, but in this case, you’ll have to take me works for it - the Sony has a slightly ruddier tone than the more neutral Panasonic - even though the Panny looks a bit orange in the video, I assure you it doesn’t in person. Also near-black chrominance overshoot isn’t a thing in LCD, I’m not sure how that got in there, but I take full responsibility

Caleb - do you have any insight on why so many TV manufacturers use nearly the same naming scheme...or have until now? Sony X95, A95; Panasonic W95, Z95; Samsung QN95, S95......
@ColJonSquall12 ай бұрын
I honestly didn't notice the orange effect, what I noticed with watching on my BenQ 4K monitor (not the best panel to collate data from, but it works for me), was that the camera position made the Sony have some off angle colour muted moments. That and the youtube compression was making the Sony pixelated. Panasonic made a really competitive tv for the Bravia 7 though, there were times where I could barely tell the difference between the two. Note: (Edit) I do see the slight orange effect, if watching the video in HDR, SDR, its not present, but in HDR it is. Had to switch browsers to notice. Normally, I use Firefox for video, but I switched to Opera, and I do see the slight orange effect with the HDR enabled in it. I agree that the video ad on startup would be annoying, though I haven't seen it myself on the firestick my family uses in the living room. I'd probably look for a setting to turn it off, since I try to minimize the ads that FireOS is putting out. It was the main reason I went with it, as at the time, the Google TV options and updated Android TV devices were throwing more ads out, more often, and sometimes overriding streaming services for it. I find as an OS, FireTV is solid, and I agree, they should put an input button on the remote for the dedicated TV remotes. I haven't experienced Google's updated TV OS myself, but I'm not opposed to it, as I really like the remote design.

Regarding the lack of an input button on the remote, I have two tips: 1. There's a customizable button just to the right of the Settings button on the remote. Hold it for a few seconds to bring up a menu that lets you assign that button to something, then choose More Actions and Switch Inputs. 2. You can switch inputs from the home row on the home screen. From anywhere, just press the Home button to go to the home screen, then press Left 3 times to reach the input selector. I think there needs to be something said about warranties on television because I referred this TV to a family member. He received it. It looked good out of the box, but it had a very big issue no matter what he did it would not save any of his settings, even after another factory, reset and re-attempt. When calling Panasonic they said they don’t deal with TVs call Amazon. The product is so new they don’t even cover their own shit. That is ridiculous and to be honest with you, sir and digital trends when you’re here talking about how good a television is you really should factor in the warranty and protection services offered by companies because there’s gonna be a lot of people that may buy this and have the same issue. Luckily it was within the return window this happened And we was able to get a full refund. I would say a good 98% of viewers, maybe even more do not cover the warranty specific with companies and the television and their technologies and it is just as important as a pretty picture not just having to buy an extended warranty from another stores. It is important to know your coverage. Please consider implementing this in future videos even if you do it once a month something because the TV looked good, but turned out to be absolute shit when it came to coverage and as much as I hear good things about Panasonic, a damn shame on them for not covering their own productif they’re gonna act like that, get the fuck back out of the country again seriously there’s no excuse for that shit and yes, I’m pissed because I referred that television based on looking at it research and reviews like yours.

@@neetop1557 ???? Please explain. I've never seen this before from a retailer that is an authorized dealer. I found the Panasonic owner's manual for this TV on their US web site. It says Panasonic provides service for the TV, not Amazon. What would keep me from getting this TV is the nearly non-existent service network for it if I needed a warranty repair. I looked in my state (NC), and the closest warranty station was 150 miles from me. In many states there was no service station. No thanks, that's a hard pass for me. I agree with the original poster, reviewers of nearly any product NEVER mention the warranty in their reviews.
@neetop15572 ай бұрын
@@thomasmathes5019 maybe I made a bit of an assumption/shortcut here, based on how it's done in Europe, where the product and the after sales are the problem of whoever sold you the product (who you formed the contract with, since purchase is a contract) not the manufacturer. Amazon and other big stores try to fob people off saying "contact manufacturer" but once you make them aware that you know your statutory rights they back down quickly and often offer a replacement/refund, since they can't be bothered. I guess very few people know their statutory rights, hence it works for Amazon and those who do.

Also, i connected it to my tv box Xiaomi (with Google tv OS) or Beelink GT King Pro (Android 9 OS) to watch contents which not available in myHomescreen OS. Panasonic W95A could have been its successor in 2024 but this model hasn't arrived in Malaysia yet as of now.

I miss my Kuro and ZT60 but when I had them was paranoid about burn-in, so I babied those displays and later passed on OLED. But I’m excited for mini-led technology and also seeing Panasonic return to the U.S.

I am seriously considering this TV for my replacement, but still wondering if it will be a good fit for gaming since it will be about 40% used for that. No input button does hurt, but that is a minor "nit-pick" 😉 if the rest is "fire." I'll see my self out . . . Great review though! Looking forward to Panasonic being an option/available again.

Great review, and in HDR no less! Thank you! This Panasonic seems to tick all the boxes I was looking for, but I was hoping this would do better than the Bravia 7 on reflection handling since I generally like watching TV in a well lit environment. Are there any alternatives for a similar price range?

Great review. I'm very interested in this tv, but there is one aspect I'm skeptical about: how does the HDR impact measure against the brighter mini-LED's like the Bravia 9? I know the B9 is much more expensive so it is not a fair comparison, however it is still very useful to know where this tv is positioned on the spectrum. This tv ticks so many boxes for my personal preferences, but I'm still somewhat apprehensive. If there's anything you can tell me about this it's greatly appreciated. I'm also keen to know how it performs in game mode, but I'm aware I'll have to look elsewhere for that information.

You recapping the Panasonic picture philosophy basically describes my old Panasonic GAOO CRT TV from decades ago. Faithful but not super punchy like the Sony Trinitrons. I'm glad they haven't changed.

One thing I wish would be added to these reviews is whether the TV honors the last used input. What I mean by that is: Say I have it set to HDMI1 and then turn it off. When I turn it back on, will it go directly to HDMI1 or will it go to a home page full of ads? My TV is on HDMI1 99% of the time as that's where my HTPC is connected to. I don't want to have to click through ad-riddled pages every time I turn it on just to get back to my HTPC input. Oh, and while I'm making wishes: How does it react if it doesn't have an internet connection? Will it show the OTA program guide or will it show nothing? My old Samsung TV (2014) shows the OTA program guide but my TCL (2023) refuses to show any guides when not allowed online.

Usually FireTVs have a setting that lets you specify to go to last input used or even better, specify the input you want on startup. I set this for my mom on a Toshiba Fire tv so it would always start with her Roku.

I think the viewing angles and reflection issues with the Bravia 7 will be highly dependent on the users setup. I settled on the Bravia 7 mainly because it was $1799 for the 75" vs $3499 for the Bravia 9. This was ultimately going in the living room where my kids would mostly be watching TV. I already have a an LG G4 65" in my den (bday presnt to myself earlier this year)...and thats perfect for me. The Sony looked amazing at the store and honestly looks better at home. I agree with the viewing angles to an extent but i have 0 issues with the glare.

Caleb, thanks for the overview but I think what most tech reviewers miss on TV reviews is how important colorimetry science is. I appreciate you briefly touched upon it here but I don't think you did it justice. When you're a TV, along with its features you're also buying the artistry behind its colours and the way it paints the picture, meticulously crafted in this case by Panasonic's engineers. Sure, the average might not care too much about it but I think it's your job as a tech reviewer to shed a light on it and how important it is. You spent more time on the Amazon ecosystem which I find redundant since most people already know what to expect from it. Another major point you completely missed is the TV's features. The main difference between a Panasonic TV and a run of the mill LG for example, is that in a Panasonic set features such as Colour Remaster, the Ambient Sensor, Dynamic Range Remaster, etc. are in fact very usable and do NOT destroy the picture if the user desires to use them. We all know very well what happens when you try fiddling around with pretty much any other TV's settings. Picture quality gets annihilated because those settings are not sensibly designed. What a Panasonic offers that almost no other manufacturer does, is a great base picture quality, faithful to the creator's intent yet artistically done, but with very usable and sensible features/settings for anyone that wants to alter the base flavour. In essence, good luck getting all that with no professional equipment or professional calibration. You can't. It's natural for you I suppose to not be able to see some of what I'm saying since you own all the tools necessary to measure, adjust, and perfect anything you want no matter the TV you have in front of you. Which is why I'm writing this.. review of your overview. You've also skipped on how truly great gaming is on the TV. With super low input lag, True Game Mode which is perfectly tuned for console gaming at D65, and correct gamma. No other manufacturer has a remotely decent game mode. I hope when you eventually review the OLED Panasonic you'll do it justice. Because, unfortunately this didn't happen with this one.

Caleb, not sure how much insight you can provide on this question, but my next TV purchase is going to put a lot of emphasis on CEC consistency. At this point I'd sacrifice some picture quality for a CEC that consistently works. I'm tired of having to trouble shoot. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A Long Time Ago. In a Galaxy Far, Far Away...I was a salesman at the Larger Electronics Stores in the Chicagoland area..(Fretter's, Silo...ok just two) but it was what you just explained what we saw everyday. Sony TV's were bright on reds. Mitsubishi were bright on cyan, Toshiba were bright on white, and Panasonic just did all of the colors to a well blended picture. I own three Panasonic televisions from the early 2000's and all three work perfect. Glad to see them back...too bad they have the Amazon "crap" installed. They forgot to tell me. Anyway we had amazing discount sales last month on Pana, Samsung and LG and on their flagship models. I offered to buy the Pana if they took another 20% off and they did, lol. The bargain of the century. Play hardball. Back to your question, from what I’ve read, the A95L perhaps a very very tiny edge, being a qd-oled. But the sound of the Pana is out of this word as it has 7 speakers I think. No need for a sound bar. The Pana has very nice natural colour. Funny enough I’ve found the AI picture setting to be the best for me. Keep me posted on what you get. Cheers.

I still have a working 2012 65” Panasonic Plasma tv in my garage that, until recently was in my home theater. I have an HZ2000 OLED (2020) for the front room and quite honestly it's the best TV I've ever used, no stupid Amazon crap, menus are super fast with no annoying ads, it uses Panasonic's own OS which I find superb. Pics in 4K HDR or Dolby vision are mesmerizing. Now to this TV review and the remote control, how the heck is one supposed to switch between different inputs on this W95? The input button on my HZ2000 is the second most used button on the remote next to volume, I use it to constantly switch back to my freesat recorder and Hard drive etc. And I don't want an Amazon account just to watch the TV, I really don't know what Panasonic were thinking of joining up with Amazon, terrible decision

The Fire TV banner auto-playing audio-video is dead easy to fix. It only plays when the top screen banner is currently selected (occupying around 90% of the screen). Just click on the down button to go to the menu bar and both audio video are muted. Also, you can shush them both permanently by clicking on the Gear icon at the right corner of the menu bar, which takes you the various settings of Fire OS, then click on Preferences, then Featured Content where you will see options to switch off either Video or Audio or both. Another useful tip is to customize the 6 'channel' selections you see your Fire TV menu bar. The row where you have Netflix, Prime etc. Click on the Apps button in the menu bar (the one at the left of the Gear Icon). Make sure you click on it else it will not show you the complete list of Apps you have installed. You can then long-click on any icon and drag it to any position you want. You don't want Netflix, Prime or Disney, like you do, in that prime location on the menu bar, you have the buttons on your remote for them. Makes more sense to have 6 different Apps you use often there instead. I'm not a huge fan of Fire OS but haven't seen a better OS yet. :) - Rakesh Bhambani India
