digitnow hd video capture dongle - CHEAP VIDEO STREAMING?? - Mageweill Alternative - Magewell Killer

I recently found interest in creating more videos, not just for this blog but also for other purposes and went on to find cost-efficient ways to incorporate video recording and live streaming into my workflows.
Could it be a cheap Magewell Killer???? - Magewell Alternative?
Is it possible to stream on the cheap?
I found this affordable dongle but can it keep up with my needs and expectations?

The issue isn't with the device but more with the cables being used. I personally bought both the Magewell USB HDMI capture and the DigiTone HD Video Capture dongles. Physically they are pretty identical with all metal exteriors. At first I was unable to get either working with the lack of a USB 3.0 data cable as the Magewell (Used $149) did not come used with one but the DigiTone ($100) did. I bought the slightly bigger version and I just got a black screen. Tried all kinds of configurations and nothing worked. The DigitNow products are terrible, which confuses me because they have high ratings on Amazon, Walmart, etc. I have a MyGica HD Cap X which is the same exact thing as the DigitNow HD, and the only reason I bought the DigitNow is because I was getting an ocassional problem where my recordings would have stuttering/machine gun like sounds throughout the video. It didn't happen often but I figured why not get something that actually works better, so I got the DigitNow HD... Well, it turns out it doesn't work at all. lol. At least the MyGica works most of the time! Don't waste your money on anything with Digitnow on it. They suck. Also, for those out there who are reading, maybe you all can suggest a capture device that is reliable, good quality, that produces high quality recordings for under a 100 dollars. I want one where you use a flash drive to save your recordings because the elgato one, where you have to run it through your computer, isn't practical for me. If anyone can give me some recommendations I'd appreciate it!

Men I'm a professional broadcaster and streaming, the ONLY one that is working well as of 2018 are the Magewells. Forget Blackmagic, ElGato and all that stuff. Time is also money.

true that. Glad the elgato camlink has come out lowering the cost of entry for many. Ok, currently you won't even get any but many of my friends in video production are using those now cause they're cheap

My old elgato hd60 is still holding up - especially when i downgrade to 720p...

they now can be used to insert video as a webcam too! I upgraded the firmware of my HD60s and now it does everything I need =)

That was my issue too! The software it comes with was unusable and it also did not work with OBS. I am 100% sure driver installation was done right but the device is not capable of more. I ended up returning it as I had not found any use for myself.

Hi, I'm looking for exactly the same as you cause I want to stream LIVE and in real time my satellite receiver on the internal network or even being able to access from wan WITHOUT the need to record anything. Did you find a viable and RELIABLE and cheap solution for this? Thanks for the review.

uh, is it really that piece of crap? huh.. I thought about buying this to steam using my DSLR camera, for having better quality. Maybe using it on my cellphone, to make KZbin live via DSLR and not with the internal camera of the cell phone.

Hi Alex, I would not say so if it was any better. I have written a blog post about a solution that works for me. I am using an elgato capture card. I can now use my camera(s) for streaming which would be the same usage as you intend to use a capture card for? all-geared-up.com/2017/02/elgato-hd-60-portable-powerful-video-capture-device/ I would really be surprised if you would get the digit now dongle to work. Maybe Linux is easier but I am quite sure it won't work with the drivers or software they provide. It simply was not possible to get it running throughout any applications, even OBS did not capture any signal from the dongle. Since I first used the legato, no issues so far

it's a joke... at least you got it working.. I didn't... after all this software installation, all leds turn on, but my pc doesn't see the device, not even the software they made you install, not to mention OBS, it doesn't detect anything... so I'm returning it to amazon.. I want to buy the magewell, it has many good reviews and it doesn't require any software, but it's expremelly expensive, so I don't know... :C to be honest I prefer PCI port ones, but they are as expensive and my video card is so huge that covers the other ports anyways, so, not sure what to do...
