I'm 66 and a farmer in Nebraska. It's incredible the widespread and enduring appeal of this song. Even out here where I live. You can hear farmers playing it out of their tractor cabs, and coming out of pickup windows. Here in the friggin' Midwest, of all places! And it's popular among all age groups and backgrounds.
