Ellen Willmott was an eccentric English gardener who loved giant sea holly ( eryngium giganteum) so much that she would secretly scatter seeds in gardens she visited. Later they would pop up in gardens where they had not been "planted". That's how giant sea holly gained the nickname ..."Miss Willmott's Ghost".

Happy Birthday Monty!! Thanks for the great information on butterfly bushes. I’ve planted six in the past and they all died due to poor drainage during the winter. I finally tried one on a slope a couple of years ago and it is thriving there. Your new countertops are beautiful! Could you please share the name of them?

I just watched a video this morning from San Diego Seed Company about sweet peas. She specifically says not to soak your seeds overnight because it is too long and will hinder germination (because the seeds basically drown). It will be interesting to see how yours do and if that information is not correct.

I heard the same thing from another sweet supplier...don't soak seeds for success!

I’ve noticed on KZbin gardeners don’t deadhead their budlea. If you cut that brown spent bloom in a very short time you will have TWO blooms in the spot!

Do you have an outdoor dog wash area? Maybe something to consider building/installing since you live in a warmer climate. I suppose you prob wash him outside anyway, but something tucked into your landscape near a water source would be handy....maybe? I'm a cat person, so what do I know? LOL!

Monty was cracking me up romping in the compost. So funny.Happy birthday silly boy! Traing class will be great. Hope your sweetpeas turn out beautifully, as I will enjoy yours come spring. I am giving up on them after 5 years trying here in IL. In California I grew them effortlessly by poking holes in the ground with a pencil and dropping them in during November. Here they come up slowly then perish in the heat. I do grow a perrenial variety, but sadly they have no scent.

HBD to Monty 🐶 My son/daughter in law have 2 pug/french bull dog cross dogs. Both have gone to training at a nearby prison! They have a program where they pair one dog to one prisoner for a period of 6 weeks (I think). Not sure how effective it was but it’s fun to joke that they’ve spent time in prison 😊

Hi, Janey: I'm in New England 6b, and finally had luck with sweet peas this year. I used the milk-jug winter sowing method. What I found is that they became bug infested this fall and didn't really do well in the intense heat of the summer. I only had a few blooms. While they are pretty flowers, and I was DETERMINED to grow them, I think I feel like trying some other new flowers for next year. I really wish I had better luck with them, as they have a pretty scent. On to my next challenge! Good luck with your sweet peas!

Good Morning Janey, another great video! I have a pugster amethyst butterfly bush in Canada zone 6 and it made it through the snow and ice and wintery weather and is still blooming 2 years later. My absolute favourite one is the "Birthday Cake" buddleia and I love both of them. Great performers.

Happy Birthday Monty My Kai like Monty had her birthday also this week we did try the training and omg what a wast of money please don't count on having great results 1500$ later she does set stay and lay down but still jumps and is basically crazy it does help we have a pool so she gets worn down from swimming Good luck
