Terrific episode today fellas!! These were very exciting finds, each one better than the last. I know the CSA button is the winner, but Gary had a spectacular day with his cool coins. Your pal Mike is gonna flip when he sees this video lol. Really, one of your best days in a long while. Congratulations and Happy Thanksgiving

I've seen people dig tons of US buttons but I don't ever remember seeing a CSA. Amazing dig. You guys had the day. My favorite parts were the multi-tokens, the CSA button, the "V" nickel, and Phillip's first live dig home run. But the topper was your red-wall tired Hotwheels. I HAD that car and yeah, I'm old. lol

Great job! Gary's first find might be to an old candle stick that you'd carry. Put your thumb on the part sticking out and your finger through the middle. It may have come off of Plillips pipe thing. See if there are attachment marks. Just a thought 😊.

The coin spill is probably where a kid sat while waiting on a ride to school. Pennies, nickles, and dimes are usually what kids carried to pay for lunches and milk. I found a couple of spills like that in my grandmother's yard; so I asked her about it and why there would be in just a few spots.. she said, it's where your dad and sister would sit at the edge of the yard and wait for the school bus, and yes, the money was meant for school lunches. Over time, they would lose coins, and that's why they were all dated around the mid 50's.. same time, they were going to school.

Fantastic job with your button 👍🏽and all the other treasures everyone found. You have mentioned in past videos that at the really old homes you guys detect that the lack of old coins and relics may be due to the economy of the south after the Civil War. A theory of mine is that up north they get months of snow and a spring time of mud as the frozen ground thaws and a coin or relic would be immediately disappear in the snow and ooze into the mud and be lost until a coil happens to swing over it. I know as a Florida Man if I drop a coin in the lawn it's usually quite visible. I don't know 🤔, just a theory. Keep up the great work fellas 🤙🏽

Just found my first seated dime! But the story behind that dime is a long and arduous and filled with disappointment 🤬with playing the one dime game .. many times .. to having them dug right next to me … to half dimes here and a half dime there .. but finally the Good Lord looked my way and i was blessed with a 1877 .. never found any csa buttons but plenty of Union buttons and I live 10 miles from Gettysburg.. but that place is a no fly zone .. keep posting and I’ll keep watching !

I would really like to know what you guys are saying when you door knock? What's you opening lines? What do you say when they respond immediately with we don't want any digging. No I don't want to hear just general chit chat. I introduce myself and even have fancy business cards that explain my hobby. I let them know I look for old coins near the surface. 99% of the time I get immediately NO! I am dressed and clean cut. Polite and very successful in people situations in life. The one permission I asked the guy responded with a "hell yes!". I have cleaned tons of junk from the lot for him and he's always happy to see me. That resulted in 19 silver coins. Success. But every and I mean every other door knock results in immediate no. I try to let them know my goal is to leave no trace. Doesn't matter. Just an awful experience every time. So now I am scared to ask. I am missing so many great spots. I am in N. California. Maybe that's the problem the people are just assholes. I don't know. Would like to know how you go about asking and what to reply with on the we don't want any digging reply? Thanks for sharing the videos.

Honestly, I think location could be part of the problem. People here in our area tend to be a little more laid back. I usually introduce myself, then mention the other guys names too even though they are in the car. I let them know that we have a KZbin channel and our hobby is metal detecting. I tell them we mostly look for coins, tokens, buttons, and other small items and we leave no trace of us ever being there. I inform them that their property is ideal for the types of items we love finding. I tell them we recover the items by making a small divot that goes back in place perfectly. Lately, I've telling them that we'll show them everything we find and they can take their pick if they want any of the items that we recover. One thing I've learned is don't let the no's detour you, keep going and trying. I will usually door knock 5+ properties minimum each time I try. Also name drop if you have did other homes in the area. In this video we landed those 4 yards because of the 1795 house we detected a few videos back, they told a ton of locals about us and these property owners already sort of knew of us. Hope this helps, keep on pushing and digging!
