He only wanted to become a Doctor so he could treat people in his hometown but because He was 7'2, a Basketball coach got interested in him and invited him to try out. Then he used his earnings to build community hospitals along with the help of the NBA and that's why the NBA is so proud of him. I look up to him as my inspiration by being a nice, gentle and smart Man. Thank you Mr. Dikembe Mutombo aka "Mt. Mutombo" #55.

Yes..He is rich not only with coins but with beautiful human values...so keep laughing at his voice but know that he has achieved more than your forefathers with all the “privileges”some were born with...He came from a humble background,not knowing how to speak or write in English but today’s his name is written in the Hall of famers and he has built back home a entire hospital helping people on a daily basis...so don’t know who got the last laugh...Proudly Congolese 😍✌🏿

Proof that an appreciation for the defensive end of the floor isn't dead among those who really love basketball. I met Mr. Mutombo years ago, decades really, and he was a kind man, the entire reservation came out because no NBA player had every visited us before. He did a short basketball camp for the kids and it is something I'll never forget. Really nice guy.

It was said that IF you could conquer Mount Mutombo on the basketball court you could conquer anything. Many tried and many failed in the course of their NBA careers in that undertaking. Three Cheers for Dikimba Mutombo!
