An English friend saw this film... Became a fan of SRK, and absolutely fell in love with Karisma Kapoor! This was such an amazing musical... DDLJ was made into a Broadway show, I think this too would have been a fabulous show.

What you guys don't get (unfortunately) are the little references and nuances. The uncle who was singing "Cake is here" is actually an old song "Kaun aaya ke nigahon mein" (who has come that my eyes lit up so much). He sings the same tune but for the cake. Madhuri Dixit was at peak during this time. This is probably her last film as a superstar. 1997, the year of the release of this movie was his most successful year. He gave back to back hits - Dil To Pagal Hain, Pardes, and Big Boss. I think 1-2 other duds as well. Korbin should watch Hum Aapke Hain Koun! with wife. It's a wholesome family entertainer which you both will enjoy.

JFC, as a hardcore Hindi film enthusiast & a massive die hard SRK fan. This film was VERY hard to revisit. DDLJ will ALWAYS be a masterpiece for years to come even KKHH to some extent but this film feels just something they just threw together in those days with a big budget of course. Great looking visuals, excellent music even the premise is ok but the execution just fell really flat. Feels less like the Yash Chopra of CHANDNI but more like the Yash Chopra of PARAMPARA.
