I'm back with another single-video compilation! This is the original Myst Let's Play from 2011; all the original videos were combined into a single video, and upscaled to 1440p. Unlike with Space Quest, this time I've used smooth scaling, as I determined that looked better for this game than point scaling. In the original Let's Play, parts 34 and 35 were wide-screen to make room for the Channelwood map on the side. Rather than pillarbox the entire Let's Play for just those parts, in this compilation I chose to instead reduce the size of the image slightly. Because of the higher resolution, no details were actually lost. The original Let's Play also used to have annotations to let the viewer "choose" an ending. Unfortunately, annotations have long since been removed from KZbin, so this doesn't work, neither here nor in the original. Although my narration still mentions the choice, it's no longer possible to recreate it. I have trimmed part 39 slightly, as it originally waited for a while to let the viewer pick an annotation. Now, it flows more quickly into the next part. Next up will be my original Let's Play Riven, my first ever Let's Play! I have something special planned for that one, but you'll have to wait to find out what it is.

I love just putting on an LP of the Myst series and letting the puzzles play out. There's something comforting about it, I think because I played them all on PC when I was a kid.

I watched this playthrough many a time throughout the years, whether for entertainment on long train rides or to help me fall asleep. This might be a sign that it's time for another rewatch.

When I got the notification for this on my phone, I audibly said "YES!!!" I actually come back to this Let's Play whenever I'm feeling really depressed or sad. There's something about your voice and presentation style that really comforts me and makes me feel warm and happy. I was in a dark place, and I really needed this. 😊 Thank you, Sven! Also, 28:33 would've been the perfect time to insert a joke from the future. Hard to believe it's been 13 years! :D

This was my first Lets-Ply I found from Dilandau3000, and I listen to all of the Myst franchise LPs by him. Honestly, there's something so soothing about his voice and the way he plays that just lulls me to sleep. ^^

I was always curious about Myst but the puzzles always confounded me as a youngster, so when I found your channel through your space quest lets plays all those years ago I thought I'd check out this one to finally get a better look at Myst. I'm still not much better at the puzzles, but I am super into the lore, and I have you to thank for that

The games of the 80s and 90s always had very direct cause-and-effect. I remember playing this for a bit, pulling the marker switches, walking around for a bit , getting nowhere... and went back to playing Doom

Thank you for this! Please don't stop doing these videos. We are watching! You should add some other stuff like Phantasmagoria 1 & 2, Tex Murphy games, Grim Fandango, Beneath A Steel Sky, Still Life, reading the myst novels even. There's a lot that hasn't been done and you'd be perfect for all of it.

I loved the extra lore and game production bits you had throughout this playthrough. I've been a Myst fan since I was 12, but there's still so much lore and extras that I missed out on over the years and it's really nice that you incorporated some of them here. And seeing the original Myst ending/ Riven opening just reminded me how mindblowing Riven was to me when I first played it. Not going to lie, I don't know why they changed it so much for the Riven remake (technical issues, I assume) but the original version is still the best.

I played Myst for the first time a year or two ago, and while I got the best ending, I somehow did it without solving a number of puzzles. Never figured out the imager, or the tower, or the planetarium. No idea where to get the code (managed to luck into that), did trial and error for the clock puzzle, somehow managed to miss the note, and no idea why randomly toggling the switches gave me a paper.

@Dilandau3000. When you get to your URU Live videos will that be able to fit in one compilation or will you need to split it into two??? I remember that one being one of your longest. Also you have now started your Myst 3 requests again, you know that right? People are going to be asking "where is your Myst 3 compilation video or where is your Myst 3 VR video?" I can wait for you to post them. In the case of Myst 3 VR, Cyan has to make it 1st folks.

6:49 if you leave the valve open, then leave and come back to the library, the tree would stay up and you can't get back to the underground room to close the valve, making the game unwinnable. In reality Cyan probably has a plug to prevent that
