How they were able to bring 2D into 3D flawlessly like that is just out of this world. Great job!

Hey, I bought Emily a few weeks back and I've been studying her rig, model and shading to improve the ones i make myself. Recently a friend of mine has become worried that if I replicate how she works too closely I may breach the license. Everything on my models is made from scratch, but, for example, I figured out how you created Emily's custom normals and replicated that for use in our own shader, and the face geometry I'm using was based on yours to ensure the side profile looks good, something I've been struggling with. Essentially, I was just looking for confirmation that I haven't breached anything.
@Drengade Жыл бұрын
Of course, I'm was going to credit you anyway for all the help I've recieved from your channel and the goo engine etc. Even before I bought Emily.
@soku330 Жыл бұрын
that's all fine. You're not breaching anything you're making your own based on Emily's, since her model and edited normals was already replicated on other older models based on ruki's. Would be nice if you make a review or tutorial on normal editing for the model
@Drengade Жыл бұрын
@soku330 it doesn't actually involve Normal editing in the traditional sense. It's all in the geometry and shading nodes. I'll try and remember how it works but I don't have my pc in front of me rn. There's a series of objects throughout the model that consist of two vertices linked by an edge. The most important are in the head and neck. The geometry nodes take the average position of the vertices of the model (e.g. the head), and the average position of the edge in those two vertex objects and uses mix factors to create an attribute which relates the position of each vertex in relation to that edge. The shader then takes those edited positions and compares them to the basic positions, which is then used as a Normal. I'm probably fairly wrong as to what each bit does actually. And I've yet to work out how goo baked his geometry nodes, as the base normals on the face haven't changed and the geometry node modifier on the model is pointing towards an external bake file.
@soku330 Жыл бұрын
@@Drengade I have no idea how geo nodes work so
