I am with her. Good engineering isnt obvious or obtrusive but effortless.

The black dots around the glass actually serve a really important role. Its called frit and its on car windows too. They help diffuse the heat transfer from the steel to the glass and reduce the chance of cracking

I have encountered this with car windscreens and always found it interesting that it’s not often present on stoves? 🤷‍♂️

I have the R4 and the bottom metal strip at the back is for the primary air supply - i.e. the left hand dial.

I think I agree with Amy, sometimes basic and simple controls are satisfying….just like my Land Rover Defender! 😇 Looking forward to the burn on this one guys!

Ah well I love a Defender for sure! But to be fair they both have that “retro” charm.

My Stovax Riva insert has the black dots around the door, and the Stovax name in a similar style to this Di Lusso. I think it takes your eye off the inevitably black glass edges, which are unavoidable unless the glass is vigorously cleaned each day.

I'm with Amy. Indeed Vote Amy! A simple, clean solution with no handle to get lost, hidden by the kids or dog is my pref. Easy to scratch things with it too. Over engineered can sometimes look poorly thought out. Be interesting to see the flame pattern from that bar. And do test a Hwam soon! Keep up the great vids (but still voting for Amy!)

Great reviews again. Still need the guys at Contura to give you an 800 series stove to review!

Next version of the R5 with a fire....? Plus would be great to see your thoughts on the Ecco stove please.

The Ecco looks fascinating. The bespoke nature of it is really interesting. I’m not sure what approvals it may have, but it may be able to skip through certain requirements due to small production numbers? To know more I’d have to try one, but that may prove to be an ambitious project for the future 😅

Have you every reviewed the Ecosy+ range of stoves from Stoveworld or do you plan to this the future? Specifically I’m interested in the Panoramic 5Kw

Well your voice defo gives off Boris vibes! BTW, love the Sonic socks but why do you go through them so fast?? Serious question- do these smell in use or does the unit contain it. Keep thinking of getting one as I keep being told how cheap these are to run.

The Boris vibe is an unfortunate coincidence 😅 In terms of smell, this is a tricky one as people have different expectations. I have never smelt anything from a stove during normal use, but I sadly have an atrocious sense of smell. Amy on the other hand is like a bloodhound, and being pregnant has turned her sense of smell up to 11. She says she can smell a bit when the stove is re-loaded: “Really not much, but if I’m looking for it I can smell it” She also says that if you’re burning inefficiently (in an open fire, wet wood or shut right down), then it’s easy to smell it outside. She can also smell it inside, particularly when re-loading. Finally Amy says: “Generally it doesn’t smell, and it’s never been a problem to me”. I really cannot stress just how strong her sense of smell is though. I’m laughed at because of my lack of ability to smell anything, but I’m just as amused when she can accurately guess what a person cooked the night before 🤷‍♂️, it’s just weird!

Looks nice do they do a double door version? I'm in the market for 1 but there aren't many that are on legs and around 5kw

Double door is definitely a rarer find. Sadly not available in this case.
