Not sure if the audition is the best I've ever heard but I do know that Dimash is the best male vocalist I've ever heard----and I've been around for 78 years and have been music obsessed for about 75 of those! He's come a long way since this performance, sells out arenas and stadiums all over the world for his spectacular four hour concerts.

Dimash is a singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, actor, video director, screenwriter and entrepreneur who has received the title of Honored Artist of Kazakhstan (2019), People's Artist of Kazakhstan (2023) and many other significant awards around the world. Dimash Qudaibergen was very fortunate to be born into musical 'royalty'. Grandfather was a professional dombra player, grandmother was a teacher and sang. His mother Svetlana Aitbayeva has a classical education (not opera singer). His father, Kanat Aitbayev, is also a singer, songwriter and producer. His parents are known throughout the country and are “Honored Music Artists of Kazakhstan”. He sings in many languages, so keep tuning in and eventually you'll hear him sing English. His English was a bit wobbly in his first couple of years, but now he's pretty fluent. It was my favorite audition, too, that's why I've been tuning in to hear more of him for over seven years.

“SOS d'un terrien en détresse” tells of an earthly being that is in distress and asking for help because he never felt well in his own skin, he better wants to be a bird to see the world in case it could be more beautiful when seen from above. Luc Plamondon wrote the lyrics of SOS about a very distraught young man who just lost his lover causing him extreme questioning of his own existence. Finally being by her lifeless body, he is able to let her go “in peace“ with the words ‘sleep, my child, sleep’. It is a part of an french Rock-Pop opera released in 1979: Starmania. One of the 5 most difficult songs in French language. It was recorded by Daniel Balavoine in 1979 or so and Grégory Lemarchal won of the French reality singing competition Star Academy 2004 with this song.

This is a very sad song from Starmania, a Quebec cypher punk rock musical/opera. The protagonist finds his mate dead, sings the song, then closes her eyes. SOS is considered one of the most difficult French songs to sing.

I'd agree with you but for the fact this isn't an audition. I know you're probably more used to shows like AGT but this is Singer in China, it's a competition between already established artists and you have to be invited to take part. Although Dimash was the youngest artist in the history of the show he actually cancelled the remainder of his ongoing tour in Kazakhstan to take part in this.

He hilariously told the story on TV, they left early the next am, the elevator door opened to a wall of security, police and screaming people. He said he grabbed his Dad and yelled OMG ! something terrible has happened are we safe ? Hands reached through, extracted them, threw them in a car and speeding away everything was explained. He roared laughing saying again I yelled, threw up his hands - STOP THIS CAR ! You have the wrong guy ! I'm a kid from Aktobe ! I sang one song on TV ! Said I looked over at my Father and he was just smiling and shaking his head. The audience went nuts 🤣

Dimash has over 150 songs and videos in everything from opera to rap, you can’t categorising him. A beast on stage, leaping all over the place, grand entrances abseiling down scaffolding etc. lots of fire and smoke, interacting with the audience etc, but reserved and respectful off stage. I’ve watched him for two hours every day since this performance (I am retired). Which was seven years ago. Attended five overseas concerts of his so far. Amazing experiences. I liked and subscribed hoping for more Dimash reactions😊 Dimash is a 30-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly anyway, but it does happen sometimes😅). However, if you include the notes he has sung live in his concerts so far, you get almost 8 octaves (7.7 from vocal fry C1 (B0) to the whistle register D8; this note is no longer on the piano). At least that's what he's shown us so far. And this in all registers (chest, mixed and head voice up to the whistle register). The transitions from one register to the other are so fluid that they are sometimes not recognized even by vocal coaches or professional singers. His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of hard daily training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads, RnB and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 15 languages. And at his concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan on September 23, 2022 he sang in 7 languages in one concert! He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how. Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, intelligent, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. At his concerts he tells the audience that he has given concerts in many countries and repeatedly emphasizes that he loves everyone in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this. His recent concerts were in Istanbul and Almaty in 2024, Kazakhstan. It was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, that you've seen the best and that it's impossible for it to get any better, you realize you're so wrong. He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to constantly improve his vocal skills. He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He is constantly his biggest competitior to get better and better. He is a real perfectionist. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is and likes to try new things. You can't compare him to any other singer on this planet. He has so many different music genres and styles. He loves Freddie Mercury, but also Michael Jackson, Lara Fabian, Luciano Pavarotti and Eminem and you can also hear that one or the other has an influence on some of his songs. Every time you watch a new video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing and always a little different. Not only can he sing perfectly and his performances are outstanding he's also an incredibly good actor. Check out his music videos. They are amazing. You think I’m exaggerating? No, I don’t think so😄. SOS is a song in the French rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione. And of course the language is also French. SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time. I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 21 so I can imagine…). The other competitiors might not have taken Dimash seriously at first because of his age and that they didn’t know him but that quickly changed after the performance of SOS, as you can see. Through his honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today. Please also react to some of the other songs from The Singer competition as soon as you can. You can find them on the Gloria Wu channel. As far as I know, on this channel there are no copyright issues and there are also English subtitles. And I always recommend switching them on. In some it is important to understand what the song is about. There are a lot of beautiful, sad and awesome songs to discover. I can also highly recommend the videos from the Gloria Wu channel because they show a little more of the scenes behind the scenes and there are also subtitles from the competitors, some of which are really funny. In the finals, he found out he couldn't wear the same outfits he wore in the eliminations and promptly ran out of stagewear. His Mom on local TV later had everyone in stitches telling about The Great Stagewear Hunt ! Friends, neighbors, family ran madly all over Kazakhstan buying and overnighting clothes, shoes, accessories saying he's thin and 6'3" ! This wasn't easy but he was all alone in China. No one but an interpretor and his coach, working day and night ! I called him, how are you honey ? Fine but Mom, could you send 3 color choices for each outfit ? The interviewer gasped, what did you say ? She looked down.. up and straight into the camera, smiled primly and said No. The audience roared 🤣

Since you are just in the infancy stages of Dimash, perhaps you will continue with his appearances on this show, The Singer 2017." He was only 22 and only spoke Kazakh, his native language, and some Russian. His first four songs were in French (SOS), Russian (Opera 2), English ( The Show Must Go On), and Mandarin (Autumn Strong). By doing this, you will hear how he progressed with each performance and continued to reach perfection. There is no other singer like him. I look forward to more reactions of Dimash from you. Go back and watch the 2021 version of SOS with the captions- to see how his voice matched the lyrics. Stranger is in English and one section shows his low register. So many songs. Recently was back on The Singer in China as a guest and sang a duet- check out Lose Control. He sings all styles of music in 14 different languages. He started music at 3 and training at 5 yrs old. In the one you watched, he was 23 yrs old and to be on that show you had to be a professional musician for at least 10 years to qualify. That song was the first song of the season as a guest. Hence all the shocked looks from his competitors. They thought he would get voted off but instead rose to take 2nd place only because 1st place had to be a Chinese singer. (They have since changed the rule)

It's actually from a French theatre play, called 'Starmania' - and this song is well known and loved by the French people. Relistening to a Dimash song is always a good time, anyways, LOL!

@ those buggers 🤦‍♀️ I’ve seen some creators get around this issue by turning down the light or fading the image of the video in the area over the artist. I’m not sure how they do that though but, it seems to help. That or pausing more throughout the reaction. Hers are a bit higher than some others.
