YES!!! If you haven’t heard SOS you have NO idea what you have been MISSING!!! This song, Opera 2 was done by a Russian singer named Vitas. Vitas did the first note and the next higher one (not as well either). So Dimash threw in two more HIGHER notes, as only Dimash can do.

Yes his range is something else :-) especially when you are not prepared for it. At first I thought the same that there is no point for competition but The Singer is not the usual show we are used to. All contestants are famous well established singers (Dimash being the only one unknown to the Chineese audience) with great voices. The quality lewel of the show is outstanding. By the way the man they are showing repeatedly in the audience is Dimash's father who is a professional singer too as is his mother (operatic soprano)... and his sister has a very sweet voice too.

I so understand your reaction to this one. This was the first song I ever heard of Dimash and it absolutely blew me away. I just couldn't wrap my mind around it. I did know, right there and then though, that I needed to hear more of this guy. The more I learned oh him and watched his performances, the more in love I fell. Amazing performer and singer! Love your reaction. There are a lot of songs that D sings that I love very much but OP 2 has a special place in my heart. It is a weird song but D is just adorable. His high notes of course are great and a shocker to everyone that hears him, but I love his presentation, his facial expressions. teasing the audience. He knows that he is going to blow their minds and he's enjoying every minute of it. He is so cute and charming. What can I say, i'm hooked.

The Russian singer, whose performance is inferior to this Dimasj's performance (I've seen it), is threatening Dimash with legal action should he ever sing it again.

Dimash isn't a perfect singer. He could tweak his pronunciation in some of the languages in which he sings - English and French, certainly, perhaps others. He also has a youthful tendency to overdramatize, falling to his knees, palming his face, pounding the floor with his fist... it's a little too much at times. He should have no need for that sort of artifice. He emotes through his voice, his facial expressions, his hands and his body posture just fine (as he did in 'Love Is Like a Dream'). But so far as his vocal technical mastery? Damn if I can come up with a criticism. So far as I can tell, he has mastered everything. Baritone register, tenor, any female voice at all, operatic techniques, pop techniques, RnB techniques, vocal fry and cry-flips, breathiness, vibrato, quiet singing, belting, pushing his mixed mask-chest voice impossibly high, falsetto, whistle tone, and even some cultural techniques he inherits from his mid-Asian heritage. Total mastery. I don't believe there is a song he could not sing well, written for any voice in the world. Individual artists can match anything he can do in a particular register and style, but he has *all* of the registers and styles at his command. No-one else does that I have ever heard. Vitas, a great singer in his own right, almost has the range but not the plethora of techniques, colors and textures. Dimash is the best vocal athlete of our age. Maybe of *any* age. Props to his work ethic, his talent, and the incredibly wise teachers who helped him to develop into the singer he is. And props to the band and backup singers. For his live performances, those guys are incredible, too. And when Igor Krutoy joins him on the piano as well, it's just perfect. He's a composer and pianist that need not take a back seat to anyone. Two years ago, Dimash was just graduating from music school. Today, he can fill every seat in any music venue in the world. Remarkable. I think we are witnessing a once-in-a-century talent, at least. And he's so young! As he matures, I expect him to improve his subtlety and to become even more effective at manipulating his audience's emotions.

@@Urgelt Choreographed or not, that's besides my point. He does it well. I said what I said in the form of appreciation to ALL of it. It's what makes Dimash Dimash. For me, it's what sets him apart. It's more than just lyrics. Lyrics, style, arrangement, etc. All of it can effect your performance. Say what you like, but every performance I've seen of his is great. And to me, the fact that he's willing of himself to make improvements, or to even rearrange his performance, (from what I've heard in his interviews, he's harder on himself than we could ever be), THAT'S what makes him the perfect singer we speak of. It's not just his amazing vocals, but his humility and awesome personality.
