SOS is from a 1970's rock opera, but nobody has ever sung it like Dimash. Please don't worry about his surname, because he is known as Dimash worldwide. He has a massive fan base coming from all over the world who will travel all over to see him in concert. He regularly sells out arenas all over the world, including New York in 2019. He truly is a once-in-a-lifetime artist who has a massive 7.2 octave rang & sings all genres from Opera to pop & everything in between. He even raps on times and does it all perfectly. He also sings in 14 languages (though doesn't speak them all), is a multi-instrumentalist & composer. He is amazing! Loving your appreciation of Dimash’s talent. I’m 74, from Oregon, and have loved him for seven years. He’s not all that well known especially in the USA because he refuses to sell his soul to the big music companies. He wants to be able to compose and sing what he wants when he wants, so he’s established his own production studio in Kazakhstan. He’s very well-known and respected in Asia and in parts of Russia.

What we are all hearing is the result of a young man who dedicated his life from 5 years old to training his vocal abilities. He is truly talented he is a very humble person who does much to help others. He created a charity that give children who want to play musical instruments but, their family can’t afford the cost. His charity gives these talented kids those instruments. He has done much to help feed those who didn’t have food to eat. He is a fabulously talented person. If you like he has many videos to choose from to hear different genres, he many times mixes genres into each song as well as folk vocal techniques, which makes his sound very interesting. Dimash has the best voice in the world! His last name is pronounced ku-di-bergen (Qudaibergen), he’s from Kazakhstan, he’s a classically trained singer, a songwriter, multi instrumentalist, director, producer & actor; he speaks 4 languages and sings in 13! And he has a 6 or 7 octave range going from Bass to whistle tone, and it actually IS a whistle! He is also a kind & beautiful soul, his song and it’s film quality music video, The Story Of One Sky, shows perfectly his love for humanity, our planet and his desire to help bring about world peace. You can’t really ask for more in one so young (he’s only 29) and so incredibly talented. He is beautiful, inside & out.

Welcome welcome welcome! You have NO idea what you've just fallen into, I promise you! It's a deep rabbit hole you fall into when you discover and appreciate Dimash and he's absolutely worth the journey! As I'm sure you've already become aware this isn't anything near the top or bottom of his vocal range nor skill level, this is just his 'how do you do'! So many voices, styles, languages, genres.... Even hearing the same song in 5 different performances will seem like hearing it again for the first time because every performance he brings something new and exciting. His concerts are a vibe that's indescribable and obviously we Dears pour out of the woodwork when someone new discovers him! Congratulations, you just witnessed the greatest vocalist alive. He is a twenty-nine year old multi-faceted artist with a soul of a thousand years, who hails from Kazakhstan. He sings in 16 different languages (speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, some English, and a little Mandarin), plays 8 musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in musicology (has a Masters in composition). He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 7 octave range, has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble and kind man. His mother is an opera singer and his father is a singer and producer. He sings every genre (even raps) He has many recent performances, but I would highly recommend "Sinful Passion" 2018, "Stranger" 2021,"Olimpico" 2019 link on Igor Krutoy's (composer that came out of retirement to work with Dimash) KZbin channel, "Adagio" from The Singer 2017, "Ikanaide" 2021 Tokyo Jazz Festival, and "Ave Maria" 2021 at New Wave. After digesting those performances, I can't stress enough my recommendation for one of his most recent songs and music video (mini movie) the artistic masterpiece "The Story of One Sky" that he wrote the screenplay for and spent 3 years composing the music for, which displays a lot of his range (not all) and soooo many vocal techniques and dynamics, including sub harmonics, whistle register, bass, tenor, baritone, classical, jazz, pop, rock and unreal metal screams....and unbelievable dramatic acting. Dimash is classically trained. He began his music studies at the age of five and now has three degrees. He was offered a position at the Astana Opera House but turned it down to carve his own genre. Everything from opera to rap. this is only the tip of the iceberg. This song is from the French rock opera " Starmania" and has become Dimash's signature song. He got his big break when he was invited to compete in a Chinese singing competition called "Singer 2017." He was the first foreigner and the youngest competitor in the show's history. He was 22 and the others were 12=39 years his senior. He only spoke Kazakh and Russian. His first four songs were in French, Russian, English and Mandarin. He was the first performer at the beginning of the episodes, his song being SOS. The next day they had to provide bodyguards and had over 6 million followers on Weibo, an Asian version of Instagram. He is the most humble guy and dedicated to his craft. He said since he was two, he never wanted to do anything but sing. He still does vocal training every day for 3-5 hours a day. Perhaps you could start with his performances from Singer 2017, you will be greatly impressed. Be prepared to go to a music nirvana that you wish to never leave. So glad you checked out Dimash. G.Wu’s YT channel has English subtitles and very important back stories, Wikipedia’s article for Dimash explains the show, gives the order of the songs and the placing. Welcome to the wonderful and neverending rabbit hole that is Dimash. His last name is pronounced Coo-die-bergan. I've been a Dear (his term for his fans) for just over 3 years now and I still haven't heard everything he's done as every time he sings the same song, it's always subtly different. Some of his stuff are covers and some are his own. As for lip-synching, I truly believe he'd never do it as he thinks far too highly of his fans. I highly recommend listening to 'Ave Maria' or 'Ikanaide' next. But then there's 'Stranger' - amazing song. Oh wait, 'Olympico' is another great one. Unless you'd rather listen to ....... get the picture? The list is truly endless and his talent is positively alien. Anyway, the upshot is, that no matter which branch of the Dimash rabbit hole you go down, you will always find another branch to take. Enjoy. 💖

She is good and all, but lets not forget she was given a lift by very strong record companies in the beginning of her career. Nothing wrong with that. However, Dimash is independent artist who us trying to stay independent as long as he can. He wants to stay in creative control as much as he can so nobody will tel him what to sing or how. With that attitude it is difficult to reach greater audience in US. Nevertheless, all his concerts are always sold out and by the lastest count he has fanbase in 61 country. Thank you for discovering Dimash and welcome to a beautiful world of music. You can hear the pronunciation of his name in the beginning and the end of this performance😊. Dimash is a 29-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly anyway😅). However, if you include the notes he has sung live in his concerts so far, you get almost 8 octaves (7.7 from vocal fry C1 (B0) to the whistle register D8; this note is no longer on the piano). At least that's what he's shown us so far. And this in all registers (chest, mixed and head voice up to the whistle register). The transitions from one register to the other are so fluid that they are sometimes not recognized even by vocal coaches or professional singers. His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of hard daily training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. And at his concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan on September 23, 2022 he sang in 7 languages in one concert! And at his concert in Yerevan on April 29, 2023, he sang an Armenian folk song for the first time (it has to be about 16 or 17 languages so far). He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how. Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, intelligent, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this. His concert in September 23, 2022 was in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, you realize you are so wrong. He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to constantly improve his vocal skills. He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is. Every time you watch a video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing. Not only is he perfect at singing and performing, he's also an incredibly good actor. Check out his music videos. They are amazing. You think I’m exaggerating? No, I don’t think so😄. He sang this song as a guest at the Slavic Bazaar in Belarus 2018. It’s an International Festival of Arts and a contest for young singers, which he won in 2015. SOS is a song in the rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione. SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time. Please also react to The Singer competition as soon as you can. Here he sings in a competition for young musicians, called New Wave in Sochi, Russia. He was there in 2018 as a guest. The gentleman at the end you see standing and clapping is the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. If possible, always watch the videos from start to finish. Very often there are interesting things to learn. Either there’s something to laugh about, or he’s talking to his audience. Dimash sings many genres and sings in many languages (he speaks his native Kazakh as well as Russian, a good deal of English and a little Mandarin). You can try a song at random from his channel and it will be wonderful!
