The little guy in the yellow room with the black T-shirt on said Dimash was fierce and that he was really stressed after that performance by Dimash. Dimash is also very intelligent..period, and intellectual. He has a Ph.D. in music composition and is studying for another degree, I forgot what exactly. This was the first song Dimash sang in English and only had one week to learn it just as he did when he sang in Mandarin. The band, Lion Chorus, said that it was stressful having to sing after Dimash. None of the other contestants knew anything about Dimash, not even what he looked like. So they were totally unprepared for what he brought. On top of that, the Chinese thought he was the most beautiful singer of them all. He really is a beautiful young man, and very, very humble.

After Dimash’s first song in the competition, the next day he had guards and he didn’t understand why, until they left the hotel and all his new fans were waiting for him. He had guards from then on! And they thought Freddie Mercury had a voice. They didn’t know that Dimash was on his way! He was the first foreigner to compete in this competition. He didn’t win, he came in second place. They also gave him a special award. He came back the next year as a guest and judge. They loved him so. This competition took 4 months and he stayed in China for almost 3 years. He’s back in China now, in 2021 for another competition. This one is much different. 😁

Great review! Thank you. Dimash sings in 12+ languages and has a vocal range of "over" 6/7 octaves (so far). Fluent in Kazakh and Russian plus he sings in Mandarin, English, French, Ukrainian, Italian, Turkish, Serbian, Kyrgyz, German and Spanish (so far). Please check out Dimash on Wikipedia. @@QofyReacts Agree, Hua Chenyu is amazing. Actually all they are, is a really good show and contestants are very nice and respectful to each other. Dimash was the younger one and the only foreigner, and they were really supportive, they called him "imported nephew, adopted son...."and he calls Terry Lin (beautiful voice too) papa Lin. I love this in a contest. I also love your reactions!

Another great reaction to Dimash from you. I agree, at the climax the back-up vocalists should have been louder, and there should have been lights everywhere, fireworks, and angels everywhere. 🤣🤣🤣 If I wasn't already a subscriber, I'd subscribe if only because you said you like his accent. He didn't speak English back then, just "Hi, my name is Dimash" and "Thank you very much." He didn't speak Mandarin, either. He memorized the sounds of English and Mandarin songs. His English is much better now, but he said he still struggles with Mandarin. He speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. So he's about 2.5 languages ahead of me!😆 You have a nice accent, too. Are you in the UK?

Great reaction. The entire production of this competition, the musical setting and the care of the artists was (and is) excellent at The Singer in China. The artists had one week to prepare the songs for the next episode. Only the first one was chosen by them and partially prepared earlier ( in the case of Dimash it was SOS, he opened the whole competition with this song, he sang first in the first episode).

It is different from the Western talent shows - the singers participate by invitation, they are already established, some are stars with a large fan base. The following year (2018) they invited Jessie J and she won.

Dimash was very brave participating in this contest without speaking a word of Mandarin and very little English! Thank you for yet another great reaction video. The other competitors knew Dimash could not win, because he came on a wildcard invitation. Next year they changed the rules.😉 Dimash was well loved by them, because he is very humble and always shows great respect. Dimash finished his master in composing this spring and he has entered a Phd program this year. From childhood he has always been a very dedicated student. Playing 7 instruments and vocal training in classic and modern music. He is good at sports as well, football, swimming, taekwondo. Sometimes I think that in Kazachstan there are more hours in a day. 🙃

Another anime/asian drama lover here....Did you know Dimash has his own Manga coming out?...Dimash became and remains very good friends with several of his competitors...he has even performed with some in different venues...only goes to show how likable he truly is...For English subtitles and more...backstage footage of Dimash..and back stories of the songs..several of the songs from the Singer show are about real people and events..and to know the story and have English subtitles makes a big difference..go to YT Gloria Wu....
