Sometimes I just let this loop on my computer and watch it for hours \m/ smooth sounds of Dimebag Darrell......he just knew how it all connected ...

I totally love how he's like, "you know, it's just one of those in the heat of the moment riffs, you just let it rip and what happens happens. I don't know the pattern, it just happens." Or whatever he said. You get the point. That is what I loved about his playing is that is was so loose but it was tight at the same time, if you can understand what I mean. He would have this loose chuggin' rhythm, then when you didn't expect it rip out this tight ass solo that burned your face off.

I got a chance to see Iommi play with Dio before he died about 4 years ago, some of the most searing live tone I've ever heard and he played pretty killer.

From the sounds of what he was saying, it sounds like a lot of that solo was done right on the spot, rather than practiced, and he apparently hadn't played it a whole lot, so it was hard for him to replicate it exactly again.

im trying to learn while playing. Its like he's teaching me face to face.

he used to play the solo that he's doing at like 5:25 to 5:32 back in the 80's when he had his guitar solos. Caught that shit! haha! this is great!

THIS MAN IS PROBABLY THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER SO FAR. i have learned a few of his songs including leads. First started listening 15 years ago but only in recent months with KENNY GIRON videos learned a few more songs. Didnt realize until watching some vids of Darrell Abbot how many unique techniques he uses!

I have to agree brotha! My top 3 electric guitarists are Dime, Rhoads and Yngwie.
@beefcakes4211 жыл бұрын
it makes me laugh when all the prog metal guys say dime sucks compared to like john petrucci and dudes like tht...heres the difference...john petrucci can stand there like a robot and play apreggios really fast...dime can shred his fuckin brains out and smile while doin it, jam his fuckin brains out at the same time...all while writing some of the most heavy and influential riffs of all time...dime is easily my favorite guitar player ever..RIP dime!
@huitzilopochtli64147 жыл бұрын
I agree but you have do give petrucci respect where it's due. Both of them are talented as fuck, but I prefer Dime as overall guitar player and Petrucci as more of a technical player.

Oh, hell yea dude. Too bad I was too young at the time, but now I've caught up on what was & the term "epic" doesn't even come close to what Dime left behind. He'll now be jammin' with Jeff Hanneman, Randy Rhoads & Cliff Burton.

I can't believe, for the longest time, Dime used passive pups and solid state amps. How the fuck did he get that tome with solid state and passive? The dude's a fucking genius. I also love how when he's teaching, he gets caught up in what he's doing and keeps playing, lol, and that amp is giving him hell right now.

i think this was right before Damageplan was formed in mid 2003.......he probably hasn't played any of these songs for a while and probably forgot how to play them hahaha....thats why Dime recorded everything, even if he was just jamming along with friends he would record stuff so he could go back to it later. i go through the same thing too man,,,,,,,ill jam on something for a few months and forget my older stuff :)
