Watch the true story of the Mexican singer named Jenni Rivera, she lived for her children and nothing could keep her down, she lived one hell of a life with so much going on day after day, drama after drama you'd think her life could of been a soap opera, a tele novela is how you say that in spanish. Her life will touch you and leave you tearing through out the movie, it's actually a series but it's well worth the time to sit down and take in her life into yours. The name of the movie I'm sure it's still on Netflix is called Mariposa Del Barrio she died in an air plane crash and had gotten threats from Mexico not to sing in their country as many artists who have went against thier threats and many have died. Chalino Sanchez was killed also before Jenni he was a good friend of the Rivera family when Chalino was branching out into Mexico just as Jenni did after him . Officials say Jenni's plane was a suspicious crash because it didn't have a black box in it. All who were on board including the pilot died in that crash nose first. Jenni is missed so so much as much as Selena. This plane crash should have never happened. You will love her also just as much as Selena, you will see😊

Edit: okay woah , I haven’t came back to this in forever but lemme explain , when I said this I meant she would probably have had one of the biggest clothing lines in the u.s judging from the fact that she’s a house hold name today anyway. Yes J-LO does have some nice songs n a nice voice, but in my opinion, her personality STINKS!😉

I 100% agree. I’ve seen so many vids and literally all of the dancing/gestures were done by Selena in a mixture of performances. Jlo copied the moves exactly how Selena did them. For example At 4:50 and 5:40 Selena does those moves in the El Paso 1994 of La Carcacha. It’s not seen in a lot of performances, but Jlo picked up some moves that weren’t done a lot for the movie.
@Lars-db7zh Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. JLo did an excellent job portraying Selena in the film. It's important to recognize that she had to incorporate all of Selena's iconic mannerisms into these recreated moments while also adhering to legal constraints such as copyrights. Unfortunately, exact reenactments of performances, including the Grammy acceptance speech, were not possible due to these legal reasons. JLo's performance is guided by the script and direction of a Hollywood film production, where she embodies the character "Selena" within the context of the movie version of Selena's life.

I love when families pick the perfect individual to play someone they love. Some choices just fit. This was perfect. Jennifer was dedicated to learning every part of Selena. Jennifer introduced many people to Selena that would have never knew who she was. Once you learn who Selena is though, you find out real quick the world lost one of the best young artist of all time. She would still be touring today. She would have had a 50 year career, plus some. God bless her family. We love you Selena.

Then when my dad would pick me up from school on the ride home they would be playing dreaming. Something about the inflection in her voice just really made it feel like she was So relatable. Her voice was very heart-warming. It was refreshing because it was different than anything else on the radio at the time. And then by the time I got to high school I remember one of my first dates with a guy who was a junior It was a 1996 Ford probe. Lol he picked me up and we went to see Selena the movie premiere at the movies. I was wondered what she would have accomplished. I really feel that Jennifer Lopez caught the soul of Selena . It was almost like God knew that she was a special soul that I had to live on somehow in some way in her earthly likeness body on Earth. What an angel Selena was and is. Surgery isn’t bad at all, but I’d like to add that a lot of curvyness on a woman can be created or enhanced by illusion. For instance, where the pants sit, how the legs fit, how broad the shoulders and bust are made to look, waist sinchers and tape and make-up/shimmer can be used to make certain parts of the body look more tight and others look more full, the color of the clothing, even shoes and hair can add to the effect. There is a LOT you can do without surgery to look curvy. And neither surgery or illusion are bad. Let people live and look how they wanna look, without deeming anything “natural and good” or “fake and bad”.

I remember dancing to her songs at the local Spanish dances. Amazing it was only 2 years from murder to the Selena movie. I don't think there could've been a better actress to play her.

Here are some trivia facts about Selena Pérez: She never refused to sign an autograph. In the months following her untimely death, more than 600 baby girls throughout south Texas were named after Selena. Once Selena was late for an 8:00 p.m. gig at the Tejano Rodeo in Dallas because her plane was delayed by a snowstorm. When she showed up at 10:00 instead of canceling like many stars would do, she walked out on stage apologizing heavily and then sang and danced all night so her fans wouldn't feel shortchanged. Before her untimely death, Selena and Chris were planning to renew their vows on their fifth anniversary since they didn't have a real wedding. She was working on her first English album at the time she was killed. She was due in the studio the day of the murder. The album "Dreaming of You" went multi-platinum by selling over 5,000,000 copies surpassing Mariah Carey's sales records. Her 1994 concert in Houston's Astrodome took place in front of 61,000 fans, the largest crowd in Tejano music history and Astrodome history, second only to Garth Brooks. After her death, the self-designed purple jumpsuit she wore at the record-setting concert was donated to the Smithsonian. Her actual last performance was made several days before her untimely death for a children's charity. Her funeral took place on April 3, 1995, at the Bayfront Plaza Convention Center, a day after it would have been her third anniversary of her marriage to Chris. The song "No Me Queda Más" was written by Ricky Vela about Suzette. He has a crush on her, but she met her now husband Billy, and that's when he wrote the song. Her first car, a BMW, was stolen and dumped into the ocean. She grew up only speaking English and learned her songs in Spanish phonetically. She started taking Spanish lessons after her rise to fame. Received "Key of the City" in Houston on April 16, 1994. It was proclaimed Selena Day. She designed her own clothes; and began designing clothes at age 10 or 11. After her untimely death, a public viewing took place at Bayfront Plaza Convention, where over 30,000-50,000 mourners attended to pay their respects to the late Tejano star. While growing up, she had a chicken named April. Once went bungee-jumping on a dare. Was known as the Tex-Mex Madonna (without all the controversy). Her favorite restaurant was Olive Garden. She once paid a tab in a restaurant for an old woman who was dining alone. She felt sorry for the woman and gave her cake to take home. Resided next door to her parents. In 1994 to commemorate her five years with the company, Coca-Cola issued special Selena Coke bottles that sold out rapidly. One was and might still be displayed in the San Antonio Hard Rock Cafe with her signature on it. Selena had an extensive Faberge egg collection. In her living room, she had big glass cabinets in which she kept more than 500 designer eggs. She had everything from gold to diamond, every size. If it looked like an egg she bought it. Her friends and family related this hobby to the fact that she was born on Easter Sunday. According to Suzette, each egg tells a story. There's one that Chris bought her a week before she died and then there's one Selena bought at Universal City in Los Angeles. All of the eggs are on display in their original cases at the Q-Production's Selena Museum. In the display case, they're arranged exactly the way they were in Selena's living room. Following her untimely death, she was buried at the Seaside Memorial Park next to a Mesquite tree. The Hard Rock Cafe has a Selena star on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant, she attended the opening as a celebrity in January 1995. She was known as the Queen of Tejano Music. Yolanda Saldivar, her murderer, always maintained the shooting was accidental. Nevertheless, on October 23, 1995, she was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. Has sold approximately 20,000,000 albums in six years. Had two boutiques, one in San Antonio and one in Corpus Christi. Loved the music of Gloria Estefan, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Luis Enrique, The Barrio Boys, Emilio, Roberto Pulido, La Mafia, Amanda Miguel, Rocío Dúrcal, and Mexican singers Maria Mendoza, Lola Beltrán and Lucha Villa. Was named "Female Artist of the Year" for nine years in a row, at the Tejano Music Awards. Had an extensive shoe and hat collection. Her closet was and still is to this day, filled with hundreds of shoes. Had been accepted to the Louisiana State University. When Marcela was pregnant with Selena, her parents were convinced they were having a boy. The name they had chosen was Marc Anthony. Selena's name was chosen when her mother's roommate had chosen that name for a girl she was gonna have, but she had a boy, so Selena's name was born. Her final performance was on March 19, 1995, in Bryan, Texas. In middle school, she was in honors classes and made As and Bs. The song "Amor Prohibido" was based on her grandparents. Watched Soul Train (1971) to practice new dance moves. As a teenager, she liked to do Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown songs during her concerts. Was planning to work on her next Tejano album and go on tour in 1995 before her tragic death. As a teenager, Selena's favorite television series was the 1980s series Moonlighting (1985), which starred Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd. Her father is Mexican-American, a Texas native and her mother is a Mexican-American/Cherokee Indian from Washington. Selena was always writing songs. What she wrote was never put to music. She used to sit around the house and jot down lyrics impulsively in notebooks and then leave the notebooks lying all over the house causing Chris to have to go around and collect them. A.B. hinted once that the most complete set of lyrics might be put to music one day as the final Selena song. Loved tobogganing, parasailing, and motorcycle riding. Was in the process of building a new home containing 10 bedrooms to be located in the lush "King Estates" south of Corpus Christi, overlooking Oso Creek near Corpus Christi Botanic Garden. In September 1994, she played Mexico City, where front-page stories proclaimed her "La Reina Tejana". In middle school, Selena was asked to try out for the cheerleading squad. However, because of her touring with the band, she didn't have time for this. Served as the spokesperson for Coca-Cola, Bep Corporation (Agree Shampoo), AT&T (phone service), and Southwestern Bell (call notes voice-mail system). Sang at her father's restaurant "Papa Gayo's" in 1980. Selena was murdered on March 31, 1995, more than two weeks away from what would have been her 24th birthday on April 16. "Ven Conmigo" was the first Tejano album ever to go Gold. Her marriage took place in Nueces County Court where they were married by the Justice of Peace, Ben Ciarza Jr. Favorite lip color was the now-discontinued "Brick" from Chanel. She drove a red Porsche. Selena Gomez was named after her. Favorite flowers were long-stemmed, white roses. In 1993, she gave a free concert for Texas students who drastically improved their grades and donated $2,500 to School Programs. Her husband, Chris Pérez, said that she was "open-minded" toward all musical genres, especially rock groups such as Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Green Day. She enjoyed singing the song "More Than Words" by the rock group Extremes. Credited Michael Jackson for inspiring her to follow in his footsteps after she saw him perform at a 1984 Astrodome concert. Once filled the middle of Oreo Cookies with Mint Toothpaste, to play a joke on a fellow singer, but her father ate it. Disliked being woken up. If she wasn't woken up gently, she'd get cranky. Her insecurity growing up was her buttocks. According to her sister Suzette Quintanilla, she would wear oversized shirts to cover it up. As she got older, her insecurity was worried that no one would show up to her shows. Had scars on her legs that she was embarrassed about. Never had any formal training in singing or dancing. Was a big fan of The Little Mermaid (1989). The Barrio Boyzz once gave her an Ariel figurine as a gift, thanking her for recording "Donde Quiera Que Estes". The day after she died, they went to visit the family. During this time, her husband Chris Pérez returned the figurine to them so they'd have something to remember her by. Bored on an airplane ride, she once got up and sang to her fellow passengers. She then put on an apron and asked them if they would like a drink. Loved Pizza Hut, Whataburger, and Jack In The Box. She loved to brag that she could polish off a whole medium pizza by herself. Her parents married on June 8, 1963. Wore the perfume Boucheron. The name Selena comes from the words "Selenite" and "moonstone". After she and her band got locked out of the tour bus, she offered to go through a tiny window to open up "Big Bertha". This then resulted in her getting stuck because her bottom was too big to fit through the window. After a few tries, they finally got her out. Liked to drink hot tea with honey and lemon before her concerts. Was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Did not like being surrounded by bodyguards. Her favorite cartoon was Tom & Jerry. Owned a motorcycle. Her favorite Janet Jackson song was "Black Cat". Before she began recording her first LP in 1984 her father and manager, Abraham Quintanilla, Jr., discouraged her from singing in "Donna Summer's style" and believed that his children should record the music of their heritage. Delivered by Ron Paul, the obstetrician-gynecologist turned Congressman.

Selena eras tan talentosa, humilde y hermosa. Eras un paquete completo desde cantar tan bien hasta bailar sin parar. No hay duda que muchas cantantes copiaron o se inspiraron en tu vida y la visión que tenías, nada más que nunca habrá alguien así de humilde y carismática como tú.
