I'm a sound engineer for live bands. The production and the mix are amazing. Festivals are horribles ( in terms of times of soundchecks, production and problems that you have to solve the quickest way). It's always hard to get the sound you want, specially with this many musics on stage and with big PA's. It sounds crystal. You can hear any instrument. The double bass sounds amazing as the guitars. Really amazing job from the sound producers and live engineers. Even if you are not into metal, you have to admit and admire the hard work from all the people who worked on this. Every single man and woman behind this did their work excellent.

@@blazeweber How they managed to utilise that space was pretty impressive. I guess sometimes watching his performance over and over I feel claustrophobic and yet I’m not claustrophobic. I’ve always appreciated the orchestra/choir In terms of how it is utilised, it gives gateways a lot more theatrical grandeur with a live orchestra. I say that is somebody who has a big thing for symphonic metal. I felt relieved eight years after Abrahadabra The next album was damn good. I also have a personal relationship with gateways from the perspective of this was my first foray into Dimmu Borgir in the first place at the age of 24 back in 2010.

If there's one thing people always compliment Dimmu on whether they're fans or not is their live sound. It helps when you're a headline act of course but basically they are meticulous when it comes to planning shows and they work with really great collaborators. It's no accident that it sounds this good. Also some credit must go to the festival organisers themselves who allowed enough breathing room for setup etc to make something of this scale possible but then that's why Wacken in my opinion is THE single best metal festival anywhere in the world . They know that a little more time and effort as well as support to the artists is well worth it when you hear and see the final product.
