often you need to let the fineliner 'set' into the paper and dry longer then it won't smudge. It depends on humidity, and type of paper. Often to be safe before erasing (so it lightens less as well) I wait overnight or at least 8 hours. I have not had problems since I started waiting 8 hours (provided the liner does not smudge with the media I'm layering on top!) The longer you wait the better basically. Sometimes I line pictures even days before coming back and colouring, getting several lines ready for future colours; this makes it easier to scan the lineart and save an uncoloured copy as well. Otherwise use a kneaded eraser to lighten the sketch and colour with the copics BEFORE the liner then wait 5 minutes for the copics to dry (15 max in super humidity) Then use the fineliners on top.

I was so excited after I saw the ScrawlrBox that was put together for Kasey Golden that I went to the website and ordered the box from that month! I did not realize Rin had one also! maybe another trip back to get another month's box! I just cannot justify a monthly subscription! Really lovely Art Dina! Thanks for sharing this one.

I love you studying photos or other art so this was fun watching! Also if you would like to try more alcohol markers without spending a fortune on copics, I recommend the ohuhu markers! they come in fine and broad tips and they also added brush markers and they are probably the cheapest but still good quality alcohol markers. You should try them!

If you get the alcohol marker bug but don’t want to spend the money, Ohuhu and Spectrum Noir are both really good and cheap. I’ve even gotten a few offbrand markers that are good enough, at least for practice.

I love Parma Violets, so I was interested to see what Americans would make of them. They're sweeter now than I remember them being when I was a kid but I still enjoyed them. 😊 The Copics Markers are really fun (I accidently learned how to add shade to eyeballs while using them!) , but I don't think I'd use markers enough to justify buying more. I am, however going to try some Spectrum Noir ones in the same shades to compare. The initial outlay for Copics is a bit steep, but I think they represent better value for money long term than the cheaper ones that are not refillable - not to mention being more environmentally friendly. 😊

For everyone who says they can’t afford Copics, just do what I did and buy one or two at a time when Michael’s or Hobby Lobby has a big coupon. I wait for the 50% or 60% off any one item coupons and buy 1 marker. I built a decent collection this way, especially along with my Ohuhus and such. I advise getting the really pale colors from Copic since most of the other marker brands don’t have those. Then get the Ohuhu brush markers (or any other brand you like) for the midtones and darker colors. ☺️
