Great presentation. Love how Carlsen is playing the format, but still wants to win outright.

At 7:42 when discussing the knight takes bishop, would it be worth it for black to keep that forward d4 knight since he has his light squared bishop readily available to counter white’s light squared bishop?

With the knight-bishop trade on move 20, I feel like some players can get really hung up on a strong knight or bishop like that being unwilling to trade it, but if you aren't willing to actually use the knight when given the chance, it's not worth as much in that position as it seems

Royal couples and pawn walls ending is pretty nice. I dont often see games where both sides only have queens and pawns left

Jerry, when you go into sidelines and variations, is it because of what the Opponents say in interviews afterwards; or is it “best play” you figure out yourself (with or without aid from the computer)? Or all three? Anyway thanks.

The vast majority is coverage of best play with the assistance of Stockfish. I try to focus mainly on potential turning points, and instructional moments.

Jerry, on move 56 for black you described it as the queen returning to defend against perpetual check, but that can't be right since "black had draw odds." Am I missing something? Also, on move 51, would Qd2 have been better for white?

Why offer a dark square bishop exchange? Isn't that a good bishop for a terrible bishop?

16:21 Why would black need to 'defend' against a perpetual? You then go on to say that black wins doing exactly that.
@ChessNetwork

Yeah, better expressed as black was looking to win objectively even though a draw was suffice for the Armageddon format.

@@nikhildawani2913 but in an armageddon is the same to win that to draw (with black peaces), so yeah, i´d say ego as well... just make the draw and win the arma...

There should be a rule against perpetual checks. I don't like them
@flippert0
@flippert0 26 күн бұрын
There kinda is one: 3-fold repetition ;-) Perpetuals come into play most often in QvQ endings, in other endings the defending player usually runs out of checks after awhile. QvQ don't happen that often, RvR is much more common.
