I think the song is happy and ahri is depressed because she can’t be herself and doesn’t want to sing this cutesy song But she feels like she’s in hell because she feels like she has too which is great because the lyrics on their own are depressing but the best is happy

She is singing to herself to cheer herself up. The pressure of being at the top gives her some insecurities. That is why the song is happy. She is proud of K/DA and tries to cheer herself that she actually has success and she will stay at the top, which is hard to do. It's dark and emotional, that is why they made that contrast.

She is a bit smiling after the bridge of the song where she kinda blooms and escapes the sphere. Just a bit, but what really gave me that vibe is the paper on the floor under the heel saying that they will be only one hit success and after it the sassy walk and the accent put on K/DA photos in the background.

Her song is about self doubt and depression. When she first started out as a popstar (what she always wanted to be) she was with producers who forced her to sing lyrics that weren't her own, dye her hair etc. It's about having the strength to choose other paths if YOU aren't happy with the way things are going. But even after forming K/DA with the other girls you have toxic environments (media trying to bring you down "onehit wonder?") and even if u are someone else on the outside (what fans can see) it doesn't mean everything is fine inside (seeing "behind the scenes" in the MV). But with K/DA, where they can produce whatever they want, she can tell stories she always wanted to tell: For people who are like her, it's all about becoming who you want to be. You don't have to fix the "broken glass", because there will always be people who will try to make it break (even if it's urself aka self doubt, stage fright etc.). You absorb all this and get stronger, it gets a part of you and it will form a strong person who follows its passion. The positive parts are at the end: her "blooming" on top of the flower, showing all her tails, performing on stage, opening the cage (quiting her job/working with toxic companies that manipulate ...) and seeing herself in the mirror/glass that's now part of her getting stronger and more confident.(2)( i just copy and paste this in case u don't understand Ahri's concept video :) )

I'm not sure if anyone explained this but, I'll Show You is about the struggle that Ahri has to go through to do her music The music is cheerful but the lyrics themself show how she is sad and lonely and depressed because her ideas aren't being acknowledged. I feel this because I wasn't very acknowledged with dancing. I'm a great dancer but my ideas didn't fit with a lot of people. Aside from, Ahri does what she can to be able to do what she loves which I kinda think is to perform. She talks about breaking out of her contract and being free and doing what she wants with her career. The song is also about her memories with the other girls, Akali, Kai'sa and Eve. Some of the lyrics are about how depressed she is but there are others that is about how she's doing what she can to over this depression and what others want her to do. She showing what she's made of by trying to give her point of view on how she sees the world. Not only that, if you look at the visuals carefully, you'll see how the song is also a reflection off of KDA as a group as well. "One Hit Wonders?" is an example of this. Not only that, but the lyrics "Hard on myself, put my heart on the shelf cause I forget that myself needs lovin" say that she's putting her feelings aside for others needs. Again, I feel this way cause I felt like everyone's doormat. I still feel this way but Ahri is trying to learn that it's okay to take care of herself from time to time. I apologize for this long explanation. I hope you don't mind it.

As someone with depression I really liked this song and the video. Ahri inside feels upset, somewhat depressed, tangled up in her past. The song is the polar opposite. When you have depression or a mental illness, the song outside doesn't match what's happening in your head. I'm assuming that they didn't animate Kai'sa's video because they wanted a choreography based video and with how intricate and hard the movements are, animating it wouldn't look right. In "Drum Go Dum", the movements flow very well and unlike human limbs, 3D models can't move as smoothly, making the dance look stiff. In "More" when they are doing the hand movement going down their body like waves on the line "More than enough add it up and away." yes the hands are flowing correctly at the wrists, but their hands are still and stiff. That's why I'm pretty sure they wanted to focus on each members personality, so why Eve and Ahri got animated videos are able to show their personality, Akali got a lyric video because her personality is shown through her raps and Kai'sa got a dance video. (At least thats how it felt to me)

I'm not sure if I can correctly state my point of view. It seems to me that the main idea is depression itself. Before you overcome this and find the strength to fight, you suffer and worry about something. In this case, Ari clearly experienced external pressure or negativity. She digested it and vowed to show what she was made of. And that it won't break her. Thus, the positive side is praised, and the visual image shows what she had to go through before she decided to fight.

The video/song is about depression/dealing with toxic fans. Ahri herself being shy, not having the job she liked and even after she formed K/DA with the other girls and got a hit (Popstars): You can see the newspaper "One hit wonder?", people trying to bring you down or not seeing what work you put in. Ahri's song is about overcoming all this, not letting others tell you how to live and becoming the person you want to be.

Wh..... you literally LISTENED to the Spotify clips of the girls explaining their songs and still didn't understand why the song sounded the way it did and video looked the way it did? In the explanation, Ahri said that she originally planned the song to sound upbeat and happy, but as she sat down to record, these lyrics were what came out. She's speaking her truth about how she feels about her life and career. The song sounds bright because that's what she wanted. The video matches the lyrics in their discussion of her self doubt and need for redemption.

i have a feeling that her song was "what her fans wanted" but the visuals and lyrics show us the "truth", what she actually meant, and that's why most people may thought that things aren't matching. for me, it wasn't a surprise, that's exactly the kinda of concept i was waiting for after reading her lore from kda.

I think the music represents that past Ahri (Popstar Ahri's Skin, before KDA) that couldn't express hersef, and had to make this happy songs without express how she was feeling at the moment, represented by the visuais

I like the ending part which shows the crack and the flaws of what she been through but then they zoom out to reveal that form of perfect image Ahri from the outside. The journey that made her what she is now and the reflection of the song and the whole video about the struggle behind the scene.

The contrast between the song and the visuals is so pronounced that there's no way it wasn't done intentionally. It's one of those tracks that's made complete by having this bit of storytelling attached (kinda like Childish Gambino's This is America) and it certainly helps that I don't mind the bubblegum pop style of the song to begin with. I'm a little disappointed Dinka didn't come to a similar conclusion, but oh, well! At least we can all agree the visuals are stunning.

Actually it very fit if u ever suffer from depression. Its not a beautiful world, with shining light and warm. It deep, dark and empty. And riot put alot of hint about that, both in lyric and this CV. It's encourage song, but not total happy and cheering at all. And in the point of Ahri views, she suffer from public, from fans, from demanding to her that she need to be like this like that. She also suffer from not good enough, not talented enough (for example the paper with title 1 hit wonder). The whole song is about she recovering from her depression inside her mind, find pieces of what she made of (like childhood when she was just a student, fill with passion). Its a long journey and she still doing it

I have a thought about this MV.I think riot is trying to show us the ahri's past and present. so the music is quite happy(just like those songs she sang before she break the contract). The MV showed her depressed emotion during that time and how she cheered up and back to the stage again. Sorry about my poor english.

I reckon it's intentional that the visuals tell a different story compared to what the music tells you. Honestly while listening to the lyrics and seeing the visuals match, it totally makes sense now (an example is when it went to the chorus part and the lyrics said "i'll show you what i'm made of" and the video showed her about to perform and show the 'world' what she actually wants to be since Dinka did say she's tired of portrayinh a different character -- i mean this is my perspective so i might be wrong)

Something wrong people always do when they are depressed is listen more sad songs to get even more sad... So I think it's really cute that she sings to cheer herlself up after all the years being manipulated. I am more surprised of how... dark her lore in popstar is... it makes me think, because that skin is reference to Girls Generation and I am a big fan of them... so yeah...

What if all of this is just preparation for when she made a single about what she wants to sing and it expresses what she really is. I like how different the visuals are to how the song sounds, like she's leaving us message to what she will do next.

This reaction is a bit harsh but warranted to an extent as I do feel that the Ahri video had more potential granted this video looks better from a different angle. This reaction I can imagine would be the same one that Evelynn would have if she examined this video because for some reason Dinka reminds me especially when she examined the Evelynn video in a way of Evelynn herself in some kind of altered state. A very interesting take nonetheless I do feel that Ahri could be in a situation where she is depressed because of the rivalry between her and her costars is probably fierce enough alone to start some kind of war in itself.

I think this song is about her wanting to be her true self, but she's afraid that her fans might not like who she is. She is naturally dark haired, but she dyed her hair, and maybe change her personality so that people will like her. Now she's struggling whether to be her true self, or keep on acting.

I understand that the visuals, the lyrics, and sound are meant to contrast, but I really don’t feel like they found the right balance. I think it could have been really heart wrenching or amazing if the sound, lyrics, and video were all simultaneously dark for a brief bit so that there would be contrast within the contrast (like how the seraphine bit of More grinded the song to a halt). that way, the dissonant parts between the song and the video could have felt disconcerting and sad and not just mismatched. For the people who think tenebrix “just didn’t get it” it’s partially on the artist to help the viewer “get it” and I don’t think everything worked together to make this dark yet happy sounding Ahri easy to get for everyone.
