If you have watched the original french version, than don't bother. This one will feel lame and idiotic. The original one is a dark comedy. Paul Rudd's character is a real ass while Carell's character is a regular is not a buffoon, just an ordinary schmuck. That is what makes the movie work.

it's just a bad remake of the real French version 1000 times better. (the dinner game) Americans lacking in imagination have got into the habit of redoing films already, but of lower quality. I watched this movie last year and I also rented this DVD from Hollywood Video. The audiences in the movie theater couldn’t stop laughing. Even today while I was watching this on the comfort of my own couch through the rented DVD, I was still rolling with laughter specifically on the scene when Barry (played by Steve Carrell) showed up with Darla (played by Lucy Punch) while Tim was having a formal brunch with the Swiss business couple.

I just came from the trailer of Quarantine and Record. I read the comment section, and it was all the same comment over and over: Copy, ripoff, remake. Both movies are nothing more and nothing less than fun thrill rides. I come to this video, and see the exact same comments, only using the title Dinner for Schmucks and What-ever-the-title-is. Hasn't anybody ever heard of a faithful adaptation? Nobody came down on those Marvel films with the same vehemency as these remakes.

The actor played Barry during 5 years in the theatre play so his stupidity looks incredibly natural, unlike in the remake.

No, but more people in the world speak English than French. If a movie is made in America, it's more likely to be successful worldwide. Everyone in France and other countries knows what Hollywood is, whether they know English or not. America re-makes for exposure. Like with the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series. Not that the Swedish films weren't successful, but they're even MORE successful now that more people in the world can enjoy it, not just Americans.
