A meatloaf was the very first thing my mom taught me to cook, when I was 8 years old. I still love it! And a little secret….I never make it the same way twice! I always like to play with ingredients and seasonings. So far I haven’t had a loser, and I’m 66 years old! Yours looks delicious! For some reason, we always did, and still do have baked potatoes with our meatloaf.

My sons and daughter-in-law request my meatloaf as their birthday dinners. I don’t do anything special but bake them in muffin tins. We have been to Europe several times and they definitely eat much “cleaner” than we do and smaller portions. Enjoy seeing you and Nana in the kitchen together. ❤

When making a meatloaf I like to sauté my onions and peppers or onions and mushrooms, first to soften them. Let them cool and then add to mixture. 😋

I puree all my veggies in my blender which eliminates all the chopping. My daddy taught me to rub my hands in tomato catsup & then rinse in soap & water to rid the onion scent

Leftover meatloaf on a sandwich is soooo good!! Only sandwich I like better is a tomato sandwich 😊 I love adding different flavor combinations to my meatloaf. One of the kids favorite was my “taco loaf” and the “pizza loaf” was a close second. If I planned a meatloaf they would ask which kind I was making and they would cheer no matter which one was on the menu. I was always feeding extra kids and meatloaf is such an easy meal to stretch. I have even made them in muffin tins and topped them with mashed potatoes for a “prank” dinner. God Bless you both ❤

I got to tell you my new hack I just figured out tonight! I had a jar of sauerkraut and couldn’t get it opened. And I thought if I maybe use my hand can opener the one that u use to punch the triangle punches, and used it to break the seal! I was amazed and it opened right up!!! ❤ keep cookin papa and nana!!!

In always soak my potatoes for about an hour with salt then I rinse them pit in fresh cold water with salt boil them it makes them less starchy and they mash beautifully

One time when I was a teenager my mom was making meatloaf and discovered she didn’t have any thing to use as a binder except for Raisin Bran. So being in a hurry she didn’t remove the raisins. It was the best meatloaf. The raisins plumped up during cooking and added just a little sweetness every couple of bites. It seems like she made meatloaf like that a couple of other times but we didn’t always have raisin cereal on hand.

I love meatloaf. Unfortunately not many of my friends, even if from the States, do not seem to make meatloaf, which i feel is a sad thing.! My mother used to make meatloaf w a couple of hard-boiled eggs in the middle..meatloaf and mashed potatoes are two of my favorite comfort foods! The War here in Israel is coming at us from both sides of the country. I dont live in Gaza territory but my daughter and her family live about an hour away from where some missiles have fallen. I,on the other hand, live up North in Safed about an hour away by car from the Lebanon areas. Blessings, love and prayers for all, from Israel 🇮🇱. Peace for all on Earth in the World! For a perfect meatloaf (and meatballs).....Instead of breadcrumbs, quickly soak several pieces (depending on how many pounds of meat you are cooking) of white bread in milk and squeeze them out and mix it into the meat. This changes everything!!!! Also, for my meatloaf, I put 2 heaping tbs of cream of mushroom soup in the meat as well. You will never have a better meatloaf!

I have a recipe that has 1 egg, half a bag of Pepperidge Farm Herb Stuffing Mix, and French Onion Soup by Campbell's. Tops off with a sweet and sour sauce (Ketchuo, Brown Sugar, spot of vinegar).

So can I ask U cook with 2 Tbsp salt in the water then you put another 2 Tbsp salt when you mash potatoes .... If you put a raw egg in with cheese tasty and green onions cut up pepper But NO salt...try that next time... My mum always put in raw onions chopped up in mashed potatoes... Make the sandwiches with HP Sauce or you call it Brown Sauce make meatloaf always nicer... ❤❤❤
