In my book he is true godfather of nu metal. SotM is full of nu metal grooves, good cop bad cop vocals, touch of industrial. Throw in some rapping, dumbed it down, polished it and you have Korn. Actually, Ultimate nu metal groove and riff is Korn's Blind and that whole part was stolen from FF's Scapegoat. It was easy for them to shift in nu metal style on Digimortal and while that album sucks as FF album, it's one if the best in nu metal genre (second era of nu metal, polished one).

Fear Factory usually get bunched up with a bunch of nu metal garbage like korn etc when the fact is that they are so above any of the bands that mimic them. Fear Factory were so ahead of their time and a band that consistently evolved its sound. Later work such as genexus is on par with their best work... Something few bands can achieve so far into their career. So very few bands can achieve this monumental feat.

There was a tour back when called Tattoo the Earth. Craziest show. It was in Mercedes TX and there was mud everywhere.the crowd was throwing mud at all the opening bands except two. Slipknot and you guessed it. Slayer.

He’s absolutely right! SOAD got almost booed off the stage. It had nothing to do with them though… they were full of energy and batshit crazy but it just wasn’t the vibe that audience wanted…

I first saw them at Trees in Dallas TX. Morbid Angel was supposed to open for DevilDriver and Superjoint Ritual. Morbid Angel ended up canceling so Demon Seed filled the slot. Definitely one of Texas’ best death metal bands imo.
