As always thank you for this narrated tour! Have only gone to Animal Kingdom once in 2009, the Boneyard stands out in as welcomed oasis from a day of walking. Allowing us to rest while the kids explore - it was a nice and unique place for our kids to enjoy some free play. Nothing else was memorable of the land as we had already experience similar flat rides at DCA and Indiana Jones at Disneyland. Perhaps if there was an D or E Ticket attraction in the land - we would have spent more time in the land and discovered the depth of detail. The Excavator would have been an amazing additional - imagine if Disney would teamed up with RMC (Rocky Mountain Construction), this extinction may have been avoided and memories of the Dinoland could have been preserved for generations. Now we can only imagine how things could have been with the Land of Mythical Creatures and the Lost of Dinoland USA. Thanks for capturing the thought full artwork of this land that requires more than a single visit.

I spent ten years putting on special events in parking lots and was an annual pass holder. Dino land never made sense to me. I walk through a treeless parking lot to get to the park front gates. I know I’m in the park because trees surround me. Then I walk into dinoland and I’m back in a parking lot. I agree that restaurant had amazing theming that deserves accolades, but the rest of it (in my unprofessional opinion) never communicated that it was supposed to be an off-the-highway South of the Border treasure. I love your videos thank you for making them!!

I was quite surprised the first time I saw Dinoland. I was totally in love with Animal Kingdom and so amazed by the look and theming everywhere, but then Dinoland was very jarring compared to everything else. I almost wish it was more like an active dig site or something that came across as a little more respectful, considering how authentic the rest if the park seemed to be. Tropical Americas I think will be more consistent and bring in more traditional cultural elements, even if it requires more IP stuff which I'm not totally crazy about, but if it draws crowds it's hard to deny. I do think Dinosaurs deserve representation at AK, maybe they can come back in another form someday.

Dinoland being replaced by Topical America is understandable however the new land could have been added onto Dinoland keeping it while adding to the park capacity. That’s the route not taken. Thanks for watching.

👏🏻loved this video…the photos, drawings, and the ride that didn’t become that you shared. Once Primeval Whirl was dismantled and replaced by a wide space with some benches, it felt like this was the beginning of the end for this area. The backstory of Dinoland was interesting as told through hundreds of props and small details; clues in plain sight intended for guests to find. I will miss that intentional level of detailing from this land.

Dinoland is the type of land I don’t see being approved now. Dinoland was different and it helped to make Animal Kingdom different. When every Disney Park in Florida offers the same menu of I P then why go to more than a single park. Guests see one and they’ve seen them all. Thanks for watching.

Thank you so much Jim, I really appreciate your stories and archival images! My biggest question about the new Tropical Americas is with the Indiana Jones attraction. In other Disney Parks with Indy attractions, there is a 1930s archeology-site vibe, which is authentic to the "classic Indy" IP, but in the rendering of the Animal Kingdom Indy attraction, there is no sign of this theming. I could imagine that the 1930s aspect was being left out to avoid a time-period conflict with Encanto, or maybe archeology is a taboo topic nowadays. But it makes me concerned that TWDC is perhaps doing a "watered-down" version of Indy where they will invoke him but hold back in thematic ways that will make the attraction feel un-immersive or inauthentic to the property to long time fans (which are really the only fans for Indy), and therefore it may fail to connect. We saw that with Galaxy's Edge and Tiana's Bayou Adventure, arguably, where an IP is used but more "invoked" rather than used in a way that clearly represents the source material and resonates with fans of the character/story as emotionally as possible.

Hello Jim, I would love to get your opinion on an idea I submitted on Easter Sunday 1990. I worked at Liberty Inn for the Spring 1990 class for WDWCP . I brought a stack of “I have an idea” forms out to the hot dog cart in front of American Adventure. It was a surprisingly very slow day and I submitted my idea I had for a restaurant in which you would sit in the cars of the era ranging from the 1930’s to the 1980’s. Mind you at this time there was no Mickey’s Sci Fi Dine in. Maybe you know for a fact my idea could have influenced the imagineers that developed that restaurant , but after 34 years of wondering, it would be neat to know either way. Love your channel. I’m frankly okay with this. I never liked Dinoland. The rest of Animal Kingdom is filled with lush vegetation. Dinoland always felt to me out of step with the rest of the park with heavy concrete theming. Dinosuar also seemed inferior to Indiana Jones.

The dinosaur ride always was too bumpy for me and I hardly had time to see the dino's so I won't miss it. On the wild mouse carnival coaster I had a horrible experience when I was set next to a morbidly obese man. Due to the spinning he moved into me and crushed me. It was extremely painful and it was the first and last time I road it. The land looked horrible and cheap no matter the so called back story and I am still amazed Disney isn't capable to make Dino's cool. They should be in the park and to be replaced with not a great dino land but with another cynical ip hack is telling for the state of Disney nowadays.
