If you’re having trouble finding the egg and don’t feel like fighting through 200 levels in skull cavern there’s a method with the artifact spots. Every morning check the quarry and mountains for spots if you find one or two try it and if they don’t yield the egg reload the day and wait until the next morning. They are item locked for the day but change every day.

It's weird that I've never had trouble finding a dino egg, but in every playthrough there's always one random artifact that takes forever to find! Once it was one of the Dwarf Scrolls, and it was year 5 before I got it. That's a long time not being able to talk to the Dwarf in the mine. XP

@LYTO memantau at the entrance to the mine beside the ladder there’s purplish rocks that you can only blow up with a bomb. Behind those rocks is a room with a dwarf in it.

I am over 260 hours into the game of my first play through and only found a dinosaur egg a few days ago in Spring of Year 6 while on a prehistoric floor of Skull Cavern. I immediately incubated the egg and am waiting for the dino to get old enough to give me more eggs so I can make the mayo and finish the last bundle! Nice guide and I named my first dino "Fusell" (kind of a an unintentional play on fossil since I often go with one of the randomized names).

My best experience with dino eggs was on a new save file, I fished one up on the 12th day of spring, and then I fished a second one up on the 24th. Due to this sheer coincidence, I was convinced that the day of the season might have something to due with the chance of finding the egg. Never again have I been able to replicate that luck, but I'll be damned that I found two eggs in the first season of the first year.

Another wonderfully helpful & comprehensive guide - thank you - and great to see you back!!! I called my first-ever dino "Gojira" (the alt-translation of Godzilla) despite/bc of being so tiny. ("Trex-R4-Kids" was another - but I like silly names... especially for "me"* .) At risk of sounding a conspiracy nutter, I used to think the game "rolled" a hidden extra-scarcity at the start for something. Sometimes it's the Dino Egg - but sometimes I'll find 3 before even a sniff at the Rare Disc or Chipped Amphora... (I realize this is, of course, what "random" means!) :-) ...but it can feel "fixed" when those last things elude you ! For me, the rarest to find, most overall "Yay!" prompting is... Elvish Jewelry. [PS - And bless anyone who read this far, but the "*" above at my own naming is because even when playing hard at the game, it can still give a smile when Pierre's voice-balloon reads "Hey look, it's Farmer Dufus!" - or Lewis or Willy reminds me to uphold the name of some (bad pun, lame joke), like Dunnfordshire Farm. I'm still bummed that "HopeForce Acres" won't fit...]

Here's how I got one: 1. Go to the dog statue in the sewers and change your fishing level 10 perk to pirate if it isn't already. This costs 10,000 but doubles your chances of getting a chest. Then goto sleep. 2. Craft about 50 magnets for fishing. 3. On a day with good luck go to any body of water and fish until you either run out of magnets or energy. If you don't get a dinosaur egg exit the game and start the day over. Repeat method until you pick up an egg. This method is much more reliable than trying to find artifact spots as those are rare and only give you a .6 chance to find an egg. Doing this you can get roughly 30 chests a day with a .8 chance of finding an egg.

On this playthrough I found a dino egg from fishing at the pier. It was an iridium luck day and I ate a lucky lunch plus I have the luck bonus from the Joja driver. This time I followed your advice and hatched it!

I am new to this game and I got it in my second year of the first playthrough. I immediately went to google to see what to do with it. I got it from fishing in the ocean - I was caching a pufferfish + treasure chest (it was incredibly lucky that the fish stayed next to the chest for a long time) and from the treasure chest I got the Dinosaur egg.

It seems like people severely over estimate how profitable the dinosaurs are because if they produced once every day then they would be much better than chickens but they don't. They produce once a week making them give you 50g per day (the same as chickens). Even with them both being iridium quality they're the same price but iridium large eggs are much better than iridium dinosaur eggs irid Dino Egg: 100g per day Irid Large Egg: 190g per day irid Small Egg: 100g per day Even if you turn them both into mayonnaise the dinosaur mayonnaise still sells for the least: Dino Egg Mayo: ~144g per day (artisan 160) Small Egg Mayo: 190g per day (artisan 226) Large Egg Mayo (aka gold quality mayo): 285g per day (aritsan 399) The only thing that dinosaurs give you more money for is selling the actual animal: Full Heart Chicken: 1040g Full Heart Dinosaur: 1300 So if someone could please tell me why everyone thinks that Dinosaurs are so great I would be very thankful

@@coffee-things I understand why blue chickens are loved because they don't lose you any money compared to regular chickens. But dinosaurs lose you money in almost every way. It makes sense if people like them because they're cute but a significant amount of youtubers that I watch don't care if things look cute only what makes the most money when dinosaurs make you less money, and yet they still use dinosaurs over chickens. I also find that in Stardew Valley money making guides they say that dinosaurs are the best coop animal when that is 99% false because very few people sell their animals.

I’ve only been playing the game for about two weeks now. Had no idea there were dino eggs/dinos until I dug an artifact spot above the carpenter’s (I call them worms cause the spots look like wiggling worms). I messaged a friend cause I was shocked. She was too cause she said it was rare to find them and told me to keep it. I didnt even have a coop yet. I was on fall of year 1 at that point. I’ve since restarted a new game and about to head into fall of year 2 now and haven’t found one on this game yet. :/
