Dinosaur basically has two parts, some fantastic scenery and a dinosaur quarry with a lot of big dinosaurs. This briefly covers both of them.
Tuesday 14th
Wind had dropped right off so I flew the plane. Video was not so impressive, the nose was up too hight this place would be much better at night. Was about to fly again when a german roled up (youtube desertdances). Got in a second flight, much better video this time. Then went out to view point at end of road (1 mile walk boasting the best view in any national park, and to be fair, when you get out the end, its not far off. The confluence of two huge canyons. You can also walk right out on the end of the peninsula. Very exposed. At one point the ridge cant have been more than 2m across. The german had left his car open and I had just closed it for him. Told him about this, had a chat and headed back (he had some v. nice video kit). Not so sure he trusted me though well we were the only humans down a 50 miles rd. Shortly after I got back, so did he. Hmmm he must have fair moved it! Back down the road to vistors center, and was told there was a tempory exhibit set up, but it was 40 miles back towards Vernal. Figures I should give it a go for Rays (comforts) sake. A small but fun exhibit. Got a poster correlated history of time for Ray. 20 bucks but what the heck. Back towards Grand Junction. Road goes over a pretty pass. Picked up a starbux for wifi. Spend about 5 hrs making 8minutes of video (3 vids total). Uploaded and headed on down at dusk to north rim of the black canyon of the Gunnison. The same road, at about the same time that last year I hit a big ass truck tire in the middle of the road. Also picked up at the starbux a load of mp3s of the bible. Quite fun listening to this. Difficult to see how people see the divine in this!
The road from the place north of Montrose to the north rim very winding and poor markings, a tiring and hazardous drive at night. Stopped in turn out just short of the park. After a little rest and recovery I decided, seeing Jupiter rise I should try to work some bugs out of the system. There was a 15mph wind that made the whole thing almost hopeless. However did catch the drive slipping every now and again. Hmm not sure what to do about that. Also tried some combos, like eyepiece projection (requires an exposure thats WAY too long). Just sticking the webcam on the back of the eyepiece worked out pretty well. I can see why people like them. Decided to pack up about 12ish, and no sooner was the scope half disassembled then the wind dropped to nothing. Boy did that get a disapproving look! Still packed up as there was a lot of fairly high cloud around. Took about half an hour. Slept well and with peace (very quiet).

One of your best, I would say. Combining the geography, geology, and the plane flight as the frosting on your cake. Looking forward to Gunnison, as I have actually been there once.

You can buy a small piece of foam that you put over your microphone that will stop the wind noise. You might be able to do this with even a bit of cloth. This would improve the sound quality a lot I think. Very nice trip, thanks for taking us (virtually) along!

A giant disaster, as the Biblical flood, can not say any about how it was BEFORE. According to the Bible, the disaster re-ordered ALL. In other words, the landscape before the flood was full different from the today landscape. The sedimentation process has had more than one explanation from the creationism side. If you're really interesting about, I can give you some books to read.
