Just like a reenactment of the vintage original paleo art of this species

I really like how the thumbnail is a reference to that Charles R. Knight painting at 1:28. I had no idea those were supposed to be Dryptosaurus, or "Lealaps" as they were named at the time.

Painting is called Leaping Laelaps.

Awesome thorough review! These BOTM figures are really interesting. I love how they took inspiration from modern day birds to paint. 1/18 is hard to say no to

I LOVE the candy red eyes, it looks so evil and beautiful at the same time.

got this guy yesterday, and he's quickly become one of my fav BOTM figures, glad I choose this guy for one of the first to get from the tyrannosaur series besides the suskityrannus.

The NJ thing was probably an added bonus but it was heavily requested by many people on kickstarter when David put the feelers out way back when, I know because I was one of said requesters 😅 Mainly for reasons you mentioned, a very historically significant dinosaur that gets zero love until now. I still love the figure itself but as this is my first large tyrannosaur after skipping wave one, I really dislike this base specifically. Maybe it's just me but I never feel like I can get it posed on it in good, natural positions..and if they do feel that way I can see it leaning one way or the other from different angles...but an ultimately minor problem for a great figure. Nice review as always Greg 🍻

Yeah I’m not a huge fan of those bases either. Would prefer rods to display them in more dynamic poses.

Felt kinda odd in my opinion that they didn't do the sheath thing for Qianzhousaurus because that species is usually depicted with featheres but the BOTM figure lacks any. Not to disregard the team's hard work, it's still an amazing figure but I think it was something that was missing from it.
@jacobcox4565 Жыл бұрын
Feathers can be an easy job for customizers. All you'd need is epoxy sculpt or milliput, a toothpick, and paint. You wouldn't even need to do any cutting or glueing. If I get the juvenile rex, I'll definitely add some feathers on the head, back, and tail.
