What a lovely sculpt, this is nothing short but a work of art. They can absolutely do an Apatosaurus/Brontosaurus at 1/35th scale, if they’re producing sauropods of this size.
@DinosDragons Жыл бұрын
It's beautiful indeed and I think even 1:45 would have been impressive, and of course scale well with its other gargantuans. The main challenge will be cost and expected volume of sales per unit cost to sell at profit. They are not just targetting hardcore adult collectors like us; they also have to make sure it's at not-too-ridiculous price point that parents will draw the line. That is unless they decide to go hollow, or then make it in different parts like Rebor does.

This sauropod was of course very welcome and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the review. But I also wanted to get it out fast to help my viewers from the West decide if they really wanted to pay for this or not. A true pity about the scale. This is one of the nicest-looking Sauropod figures I've ever seen. I know most people are upset about the size, but this is the perfect size for me. And I'm thankful to PNSO for giving this Alamosaurus because this is the only decent-looking Alamosaurus figure out there, and we should be thankful rather than complaining about it. Another thing about huge figures is that the bigger the figure gets, the bigger the price goes up. This figure is already around $75. That is literally my monthly salary, damn it😅🤣. If one wants a 1/35 scale sauropod, I think they should custom-make it rather than complain about it to a company that mass produces their figures. I'm sure you know how big that Huanghetitan is, my dear sir. How much space does it want, and how much does it cost? So to ask for bigger figures does not suit me. Either way, it's not about me, right? I hope you all get what you want. But for me, this is one of the most perfect figures, with a nice color pattern and a great pose. This is truly a gentle giant.❤ I'd love to see this Alamosaurus compared with PNSO Huanghetitan. Then, I'm sure, people will decide if they really want those 1/35 models. I loved this review so much, my dear sir. You are amazing, and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I am waiting for your next review.🖤

Wow thank you for your intelligent comment! I certainly agree with you. There is no other mass produced titanosaur that captures all the astounding bauplan of the most recent reconstructions, such as that enormous neck, like this PNSO. And as such, this ranks as one of my favourite macronarians on my sauropdo shelf. The Huanghetitan was a different breed though. Firstly, it is hollow vinyl. So it is a lot lighter to ship. Second, I think PNSO has clearly moved from that to a more solid plastic. I wonder if they have the sufficient infrastructure or even factory agreements to produce hollow vinyl figures even if they wanted to. In terms of height, I really wish I'd remembered to include the PNSO Huanghetitan! 🤦♂️🤦♂️

Sorry for the late reply! For me, since I get them in China, shipping is no real difference to me, and I am also worried about how quickly PNSO paint apps deteriorate with each production run, so I get them as they come out. @DinosDragons Жыл бұрын
The challenge is that not everyone PNSO is targetting is in the collecting niche. The relative few who are willing to pay something that PNSO would offer in the style it executes will not overcome the challenge of selling to people who are more casual. What is a bargain for us would be a huge spike for them. Not forgetting that a huge volume of sales come from children. Many parents here in China (I am guessing it would be same in the West) are frugal and even without the onerous shipping most of you have to pay, a 1:35 titanosaur would still be a lot more expensive to what they are used to paying, not to mention take up a lot of space. Unless PNSO is willing to change its _modus operandi_, such as go to hollow vinyl, a minimalistic box without extras, or having models come together in parts like Rebor.
@thomasmonroe7947 Жыл бұрын
So. My Samuel showed up(shipped very quickly by Aliexpress)and….I have a serious love/hate thing for this figure. First, it’s probably the finest sculpt of a sauropod I own. Regardless of any trepidation as to accuracy about the adornments and there function or actual appearance, I find that this is, overall, a brilliant representation of the titanosaurids. The paint scheme, speculative as it is, is fantastic. Now the bad. It’s sooo much smaller than I thought it might be. The cost was…meh…I think worth it as an experiment. Would I order it, again, knowing what I know now? I honestly don’t know. I’m very sold on the overall figure as being quite beautiful. But, I do prefer to remain in 1/35. I’d probably refrain from picking this one up. Haolonggood is rumored to be producing a large sauropod line that will retain a 1/35 scale. That will be where my money goes, in future, if PNSO decides it can’t support larger figure production for fear of pricing themselves off the market. That’s weird because Rebor has already shown that a ‘some assembly required’ method of shipping figures in smaller containers is an option. Also, PNSO has already produced larger hollow vinyl figures that, even years later, mine is still in excellent shape. The reduced weight of hollow vinyl relates out to smaller shipping fees. I say all that now. If PNSO moves towards production of continued high quality figures like Samuel, I may find myself eating my words but, right now, I’d have to pass on anything else so far outside 1/35. I highly recommend finding this figure if you can. But find a sale or someone wanting to sell one on the secondary market. Love it and hate it.
@DinosDragons Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your very well thought out comment. The move away from 1:35 comes from their decision to make these solid figures and abandoning their old hollow vinyl figures. I wish I'd remembered to do a comparison with the PNSO Huanghetitan as that would have made an excellent talking point. If HLG really does offer a titanosaur somewhere near 1:35, maybe that would show PNSO a plausible workaround. I doubt with their sense of aesthetics, the separability of a Rebor would appeal to them. I don't know about your Rebor, but the only Rebor I have that fits perfectly is their old Stegosaurus. Maybe it's just my bad luck. The really regrettable thing about doing this in 1:55 is that titanosaurs are most famous for their immense size. 1:55 just takes away from that sense of specialness, and removes a large part of the thunderous impact that you would want this beast to have. I definitely feel it for those of you who have to order it from China, which is one reason I try to get these reviews out as fast as I can to help you make a decision. Yet I can't help but feel that this thing is so beautiful in and of itself, with proportions that come closer to the most recent titanosaur bauplan than any other model company, that it still is a must have for any sauropod lover, provided you can afford it. Your idea for a secondary market one might work, except that if paint application quality drops with each run, then prices might well stay the same, if not increase.
@thomasmonroe7947 Жыл бұрын
@@DinosDragons You’re not wrong about Rebor figures. It took a bit of brutality and superglue to get the gaps tightened up. Had more to say about this figure but clumsy me tapped another thumbnail and lost my original message. Bottom line: I talk a good game but in all honesty, because PNSO keeps raising the bar in the creation and production of their figures, I will probably continue throwing my money at them. So far, I’ve had very little in the way of issues with their figures(we won’t talk about the seam issues in the aquatic figures….). The other side of that is the promise of a continuation of 1/35 sauropods from HLG which, being familiar with their adequate but pedestrian paint apps, I look forward to some bigger repaint projects. PNSO is still the big dog. HLG has a bit of catching up to do but what a difference a few years have made in what is now being made available to collectors. It’s a great time for Dino nerds.

Ah this figure is just perfection! I love sauropods a lot and definitely cannot skip this one with this awesome level of detail! As a sauropod enjoyer yea a 1:35 wpuld be very impressive but knowing pnso it would cost a FORTUNE and for sure more than 100 euros which is insane amount of money and o for sure no way on hell would be able to aford that But this size is actually not bad choice even for a 1:35 scale if you consider the following: 1. This is not a fully grown individual but its still a very big one, so big in fact that its lifestyle would actually be just like the adults, maybe it would even be sexually mature because sauropods reached sexual maturity early in their development 2.populatopms of sauropods according to the current information would mostly consist of still growing individuals with fully grown ones actually being a very rare sight...this especially mskes sense for the biggest of sauropods because all sauropods laid a LOT of eggs in each clutch and since the young lived on their own you can imagine if all the female titanosaurs produced eggs in the same time of the year AND every year this would mean insane amounts of babies, most of which would die early on because sauropod babies were vulnerable to predators with the only defensive choice being hiding very well under vegetation *even if they probably were more agile than the adults i doubt they could outrun their predators* as a result accounting for all of this info you can consider samuel here to actually be the most common giant size that you would come across than actually fully grown adults 3. If you wanna be extra specilative you can act like if the very biggest alamosaurus we know of was an exception and samuel here would never grow to be that big and in his full adult size might still be actually a bit smaller making him in 1:35 even older than what i wrote above suggests, after all even fully grown animals can vary in size they might be bigger than normal or normal size or even be shortsr than the normal size
@DinosDragons Жыл бұрын
All great suggestions to make people feel better about this purchase, with perfect scientific sense, although I suspect once they have it in hand they might not need any excuses at all! 🤣 I just replied to another viewer that sexual maturity is possibly reached before full size potential is reached, so body proportions wouldn't be different. I do like the idea however, that the titanosaurs _were_ generally huge, and the finds we have not exceptions.😁 HLG is said to be making a larger Alamosaurus, perhaps even 1:35, so you can definitely look forward to that as well!

Your answer can be roughly seen with the diagram at 15:22 To my eyes, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between a sub-adult and the full-grown adult, but of course the adult will likely have much more mass, and the silhouette diagram really isn't the best reference to begin with.
