I bought the cheaper sport ones a few years ago. I truly think for fog lights. The sport would have been a over kill. They still light up enough of the road in bad weather. That its not a big deal. I also like the fact in the rain. Since my car has led from the factory. It kinda filters out the glare from the led head lights.

I never truly appreciated the amber color until I installed them, way less eye strain

I just installed a set of those on my 4runner and went with yellow for the snow. I have a ditch light kit with the driving light option and an anxious to see how those work.

Really? I was looking at the ambers in Max but it's $200 more than the Pros. If it's not "that" much brighter or more visible or whatever, to where it makes a huge difference, I might as well save the money and go with the Pros. By all accounts the Pros seem to do a great job.
@Metalsaber2 жыл бұрын
@@Dreaklock The difference is that the pros have a lot more spill and thus make them "brighter" however that spill is really annoying to oncoming traffic. The max do not have as much spill and a more defined cut off which makes them appears to be not as bright. However they are much better for oncoming traffic and just all around better road etiquette.
@goingtogundys2 жыл бұрын
I stuck with the Pros to keep them street legal. I don't think any LEOs around me would stop me, but I don't want to piss off everybody (just most of the people) going the other direction.

Yellow fog lights do a better job illuminating snowy roads and fog since white light bounce off white surfaces, giving you less visibility on foggy and snowy roads. Yellow lights for the win!
@jaysson11512 жыл бұрын
I just watched Headlight Revolution’s take on yellow led fog lights and they stayed that yellow LEDs, in fact, do NOT cut through fog, dust, snow and rain the way halogens do. A halogen bulb only emits a single wavelength of light while an LED emits multiple wavelengths. They said yes a yellow led will not dazzle as much as a white led, but as far as performance is concerned in inclement and foggy conditions, a yellow halogen is much better a cutting through it than a yellow led. Their only limitations is that they are dimmer lights.
@PghMtbRides2 жыл бұрын
They still work better than any hue of white light Easier on the eyes When offroad they distinguish things better, On snow on rainly street they reflect less Theres still more benefits to selective yellow or an true hue amber. Your eyes registeres yellow easily...doesn't register white with blue hue well Easier on eye means less eye fatigue and night vision is also better Cutting through fog weather LED or halogen was a miscommunication.. it's about light reflection/refraction
@goingtogundys2 жыл бұрын
All I can comment, anecdotally, is they seem go stop the warp speed effect when driving in snow. Fog sucks no matter what if it's thick enough. The yellow also seems to reduce eye strain at night, for me at least. I do get brighted way more than I used to though!

@@goingtogundys the DD ss3 lineup is hard to adjust correctly ,and seeing the SAE results from.them.compared to Baja (worst) rigid and morimoto It makes sense

It's all to do with the rods and cones inside the human eyes which we sense different light patterns R.G B. Thats why we see better in the day and night creature's when the moon is out. Match the light patterns with our own eyes 👀 and the perfect light patterns can be achieved.

I can clearly see better with more road visibility due to the amber color. I don’t believe or care what experts are saying. Shit matters when it’s foggy, rainy or a blizzard.

@colemaurer5030 Жыл бұрын
You need to aim your lights down, those low beams are blinding the shit out of other drivers. Notice the last guy didn't turn off this high beams because he thought you had yours on. Whenever you lift or level a vehicle, re-aim the lights so they do not blind other road users. The fog lights should also be aimed down quite a bit. The SS3 Pro has a very tall beam pattern, and you typically cannot avoid blinding people with them. I would recommend only using these fog lights when there are no people in front of you or driving towards you.
@goingtogundys Жыл бұрын
Thanks Cole. I have not re-aimed my low beams, but the difference in the level lift is it only brings the front up 1-1.5" compared to 2.5 with just the level. Also, with the snap in pods from DD, there isn't a lot of adjustment and I have them as far down as they go. I typically only use them when driving in the open country and reduced visibility situations. Technically they're street legal and I like to see the ditches due to the deer density in the area I live. DD has a great video covering all of the fog light beam height, width and lumens for all of the major manufacturers, OEM and aftermarket. I do get flashed more than I used to, but then I see somebody with blue headlights and don't feel bad about it at all.
@colemaurer5030 Жыл бұрын
@@goingtogundys Any change in suspension height will alter the beam height. I suggest you aim the low beams down at least a little bit. It is clear in the video that they are too high, regardless of the level/lift height.

I got into some pea soup fog last month right before sunrise on the Interstate. The amber does a nice job of cutting into the fog as opposed to white light that immediately reflects back. I'm very happy with them so far.
