+Aaron Rowles you're right. Folks don't remember that Dionne was a bit of a trailblazer for black female international pop/r&b stars. As far as breaking into solo stardom, Dionne preceded Aretha, Diana, Gladys and pretty much all the rest. Aretha was recording fairly early on but didn't find her sound until the mid 60s. Dionne was already a superstar by then. Nancy Wilson's a bit of an exception. She broke onto the scene a littler earlier than Dionne, but Nancy's initial work was more closely associated with jazz rather than pop/r&b. Sometime in the mid 60s, Nancy branched out into popular music and rhythm & blues. There are so many great artists and there's so much great music to enjoy, as well as some fascinating history to reflect on as well.

Dionne fez parte da minha infância. Ainda lembro como conheci essa cantora maravilhosa, conheci primeiro Whitney, que também guardo um enorme amor, e procurando algumas das relíquias de Whitney no KZbin, me deparei com um vídeo com Luther Vandros, Whitney, Stevie e Dionne cantando That's for friends are for. Me apaixonei por Dionne naquele momento. Sou muito fã desse estilo romântico dos anos 70 e 80. É algo que meu pai e minha vó me deixaram de herança, muito obrigado por terem me apresentado esse estilo maravilhoso de música. A parte ruim é que não consigo mais me apegar a essas músicas que saem hoje em dia. Não são feitas com amor.
