I got into keeping tarantulas to cure my arachnophobia and it worked....to a degree. However, these are beyond my humble capabilities. Fascinating, beautiful and spectacular no doubt, and I never knew they could attain such a size, but they also terrify me. And I thought pokies were fast!😱

Hey, Tom, Great Video! I'm a big fan of Dipluridae myself, and my adult female L. sericata has quite literally filled a 10 gallon aquarium to the brim with a jaw dropping amount of webbing. I am convinced one of these could fill an Olympic swimming pool if given enough time. Looking forward to your next podcast episode,

I added one of these (Linothele fallax) to my latest order im reaching the end of my initial spree so needed some cooler stuff. What convinced me was seeing it in your heaviest webbers video and as a huge fan of webbers i needed to have one. Also got some other cool stuff from FNTs sale along with a BCF P murinus my 5th OBT and the last color form I needed. I thought I was done for good then spontaneously got an opportunity to own a Poecilotheria subfusca highland sling, which I drove an hour for today. I absolutely could not resist that. I named it Omega since its a cool name and will force me to keep it as my last for a while to not ruin the effect. I may add some females down the road though I was checking out Jamies they have really good deals on females im intrigued. I remember you speaking highly of them as well. Keep up the awesome work and best of health to you and your family including the ones without meatsuits!😅

Tom!!! i appreciate this video so much you have no idea, I have my leinothele sericata sling and you helped me a ton with their care, She (hopefully a she ) is growing strong and fast about 1/2 inch now, Your knowledge is so appreciated, they are very fast but like u said in the podcast and previous videos they rather run and hide than to be defensive, once she gets a little bigger i will transfer her to the adult enclosure and she will stay there permanently to avoid multiple rehouses.
@TomsBigSpiders Жыл бұрын
I'm so glad, Anabel! That's awesome that she's doing so well. Yeah, they definitely ARE fast, but the speed really doesn't come into play in a stressful way. Plus, they can't climb well, so that makes a huge difference. If that's how you rehouse, it will be super easy. She'll also get the chance to REALLY web up that enclosure. Thanks again!

Hi Tom, great video and on point. They are fantastic spiders, and as I said in a other comment, my experience with these spiders is, that they are very shy, no defensive behavior, no bites, they will be about 3-5 + years old, with luck a bit more, but not as old as tarantulas or trapdoor spiders. They like it a bit moist and warm and in a big setup, they like high growing real plants and some wood for the webbing. They are not difficult to keep, but this is only my opinion. Wonderful spiders. Beautiful footage of your dipluridae spiders! Love to see them hunt! And as I said, I can recommend you the Euagrus Genus, they are like little dipluridae but a little bit clumsy and also not defensive, with strong webbings. Have a great week and stay save Greetings Chris 🤘

These guys remind me of American grass spiders (Agelenopsis). All these Latin names for spiders. I want them to be what they are. The black one with the golden knees. STOP the bird eater name completely. They may be more venomous but they do not go after birds that were 40 times their weight. The docile T with orange and black colors love it or leave it, please don't make it a Halloween trick on this misnamed tarantulas. Love your amazing collections Tom. Hi Billie have a blessed and peaceful weekend.

Hey, Joyce! How are you feeling? I actually prefer the Latin names only because the common names can overlap and be confusing. And yes...the birdeater thing needs to go away. haha EVERYTHING is a birdeater these days. As always, thanks so much. Hope all is well!

@@TomsBigSpiders I know it is easier to classify with bio names always in Latin or a variant thereof. I am walking without a walker and only use my cane when I go out. I have been healing very nicely. Say thanks to Billie. God bless you both.

The word True spider is in my opinion pretty dumb. They all goes under the category spiders, they all got 8 legs. But ive thought of some of them myself, but took some OBTs instead. These spiders was quite expensive.

Well, it's just the layman's way of differentiating the primitive species from the more evolved, shorter lived ones. Good point, though.
