He's a self taught vocalist with no professional training. And you didn't really hear him at his lowest growl, or his highest. It goes even higher with the scream. Way higher.

In vinushka live the video by androgynous you can see many of Kyo's voices, from the highest pitch to the lowest growl. I don't know, if you are aware this song has an original video and it came out on the movie Saw 3D

I am so delighted to see Dir en grey back on your channel again! there's not a lot of musically authoritative discussions on the technical/more complex side of Kyo's voice, and while I had some classical training in high school, I only know just enough to know how much I don't know, lol! This will always be one of my favourite performances by the band - between the absolute insanity of "Dive, Like Hell, And Destroy" (jesus the mic was still so far from his mouth and he was still so Loud) and the crowd connection... It's always a Lot of fun. They're a really, really dark band, and this is only the tip of that iceberg. For more of his incredibly heavy vocals, a song like Different Sense, or if you want an overwhelmingly emotional performance - Zakuro.

Ya there's that one particular live version of Vinusha that is a much watch. imo its one of the most impressive rock performances I've ever seen. it's godly. Kyo is amazing in it.

If you know, you know. The androgynos version covers an insane range for him, with a combination of a song that's ALL emotion and him being in a healthy comfortable place it's the sweet spot of Dir en Grey lives

What can you expect from a painless singer who was obsessed to hurting himself even on the stage😅 He didn't really care about himself nor his throat, he only care about the art passion and the process, so the emotion can passed through the crowds.

In terms of Kyo's extreme singing exertion, he mentioned he consciously chose to use his voice to the full until it gives out on him. That 'shine brightest when he can and go with a bam' attitude is just very Japan.

As someone who's been toa show at every one of their US tours, YES. It's a religious experience, especially if you're there because they mean a whole lot to your heart. Ive been to him at his peak and at his most damaged and it doesn't matter. It's a hypnotic, cultish experience. With no offense intended each time was a religious experience. I came out very quiet and very introspective each time.

you should listen to Kyo actually singing. Like without the growling and stuff, cuz his voice is actually an amazing singing voice. "Sugizo Zessai ft. Kyo" could be a great example.

With all my love to Kyo and Dir en Grey it's important to say that you don't have to damage your voice or be athletic to express immense pain and suffering in metal. You should react to Dir en Grey 'Vinushka' and then to 'Home back' by Jinjer - both songs are absolutely amazing, both are about war, both can leave you in tears and in a very dark place, but with Jinjer I don't need to worry about Tatiana's voice, because she can go hard without destroying her vocal cords. I'm with Kyo and his dedication to give his all and to bring these raw emotions no matter what, but there are severe consequences (this dedication almost killed him, when he fainted on stage and he was hospitalised), but it breaks my heart. Anyway, thank you for reacting to Dir en Grey - they are amazing, but most of the reactors don't get them and also don't want to dive deeper, so I appreciate it.

I only know 2 other males singers who are able to do this extreme high screech, Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth and Mike Patton of Mr. Bungle. As a female singer, I find this kind of scream close to impossible to imitate, not sure is that a male falsetto thing or not. Dani and Kyo both have lean and high voices, but Mike Patton's is just regular dude voice.

@@brendangibson8200 Thanks for the recommendation bro. These two bands nailed the same sound too. I am still curious about the mechanism though. Also waiting to see if any female vocalist getting it, and how.

@@shenghanwang6342 you're welcome! I'm sure there's other people out there that can do it, male and female. It's still not an incredibly known technique, but it seems to be growing in popularity, so maybe in the coming years we'll start to see more bands incorporate it

Have you done Galneryus yet? If you haven't you should try Angel of Salvation (Live) or The Force of Courage (Live) if you haven't. My personal favorite is Brutal Spiral of Emotions by them.
